I'd pay it and move on and forget about it. Otherwise you could end up with a heftier bill. If it's a private car park they won't care about the poor signage and who is going to review your protest? It's incredibly annoying but I can't see that you have a case, sorry. Not that I have any legal background!

But surely its up to the company to protest to the courts to chase the money? Why should I pay up for something that it extremely unreasonable.

As far as I am aware you can only enter into a contract of parking if you were aware of the terms and conditions of the car park, of which signage is extemely important.

The problem I have is not at the £60, more the way I have been leeched out of the money for something that is completely unreasonable.

Ignore it. They have to pay £40 just to try and get a court to enforce it and then a judge has to ensure the charge is fair, and judges usually cut them in half. It's not worth pursuing.

Ignore it and all future letters you get.

Completely unenforceable.

Have a look at moneysavingexpert.com

They have to be able to show that they suffered some loss due to you parking there.

Taggs the funny thing is letters would not even be sent to me as it is a company/leased car and I am not the registered keeper, only the legal owner. I work in the motor industry and would have no problem in telling them how things work when it comes to parking regulation.

As crap as it is and 'wrong in principle', just pay it and get on with your life. It will end up using up tonnes of your time and mental headache and worry if non-payment turns into action against you.

If you're independently wealthy and bored, fight it all the way. Otherwise don't.

Put in in the bin and forget about it.

Next steps will be about 5-6 threatening letters and then they will stop.

I have done this on about 7 occasions, 3 in the same carpark.

If it's a council run car park pay up, if it's a traffic warden or police ticket, pay up.

If it's private car park, ignore it. It's nothing more than an invoice, it comes under contractual law and they would have to prove you agreed with the contract when parking. Google it or check out money saving expert.

Forget parking regulation, who the keeper is, what colour the car was, were the carpark was or even what day it was. Forget it all. It is 100% unenforceable. Have some fun with them, offer them a quid. I used to put the one enforcing Cheshire oaks on hold for ages while I got my wallet for like 1/2 an hour

Sorry guys should have made it clear its not a PCN its a charge in a private car park from a private limited company who specialises in security etc.

Can't believe people are saying pay it! It's a scam you muppets! You you pay a random invoice I gave you?

Even then Kav H, unenforceable.

I've had it before as I was waiting for 20 minutes. Ok I didn't see the sign for "no waiting" they sent me a picture of my plate, along with a letter, then another letter, then a supposed legal letter (but from their own company), it's been over a year and nothing has happened except getting letters.

The way its also disguised as a official parking notice to make it out as if its from the council makes me extremely angry - in the same yellow packet stuck on my windscreen.

I've also offered a quid. As that was the minimum parking charge.

Nothing happened still.

Just bin it. Do not even correspond in any way. The letters get more and more official looking until they eventually give up. It's not even worth giving it a second thought.

I got done £40 for outstaying 90 mins in a local Lidl car park. I have appealed but don't expect to win it. It's unreasonable as I didn't even think to look for signs as I was shopping in the supermarket and across the road a large Tesco has no such restrictions.
I also had done my back in and first went to a physio a few doors down before doing my shop. IT's money for old rope and how society is these days. Everything about money !

See thats the thing I was neither overstaying my limit and neither is it a pay-to-park car park. I assume the permit they want is for the companies who use the car park as it is off a trading estate. This I feel adds weight to my dispute of the ticket as I am not causing any issue or problem to your company or car park at 12am on Good Friday so what is the issue? Leeches the lot of them and I'm definitely not the type to be intimidated by unreasonable letters or fines.

Cruyff,

Was it a council car park or lidls own?

posted on 26/3/16

Taggs - Think it's Lidls own. I already appealed online and waiting to hear. I had a bad back and do the shopping for my elderly father

Yeah chuck it in the bin.

Council car parks you will end up having to pay 99% of the time if you fight it and probably for more than the initial.

Private car parks is a lot more difficult to enforce and for the fee concerned requires a lot of effort to enforce.

This sounds very similar to when i not only parked in a pay and display without paying, i parked in a disabled bay; such was the lack of lighting!! I

I returned the following day at the time printed on the parking ticket and took a number of photographs, concentrating on my parking spot, the pay and display machine which had a broken bulb, and the surrounding non existent lighting.

I included the photos with a letter explaining why i should have the fine cancelled. This occurred in November 2015. I have yet to receive either a summons or a letter confirming the cancellation of the fine.

OK lads here is the thing

In private type car parks legislation has changed so they can't clamp etc these days. Those that do fight it.

In this case in op do not argue do not send anything. Liability I'd assumed by admittance. If anyone asks you can say was my car but wasn't me and they can't to jack

Trust me no need to send email or letter etc about signage as you will strengthen their case/stance. As pointed out ignore ignore and ignore again
