Ozil controversy

Someone has to miss out. There is no issue with the players you mention being included, so there is no issue with Ozil being excluded.

Lukaku and Aguero could have been in it; Kane and Vardy were chosen instead.

Of course there's an issue with Alli, Kante & Payet being included. Because Ozil's clearly been better than them.

Kane & Vardy have scored more than Aguero & Lukaku.

Whereas Ozil has created more goals & chances (by far) than the other MFs.

Plus Ozil is up for POTY, whereas Alli isn't, which doesn't correlate.

I must say Spurs have two of the most exciting YOUNG talents in world football at present in Delle Ali and Harry Kane.
These two players will be WORLD CLASS for many years.

Mahrez, Kante, Alli and Payet have all been comfortably better than Ozil

I've never been an Ozil bootlicker like some embarrassing Arsenal fans, but this is nonsense. Pretty much only Mahrez in that list has had a better season.

A lot of Ozils assists came from crooners and free kicks mind, a few games Ozil got an assist for essentially floating ball into the box.

Like against us for example. When Arsenal were in for the title and needed their big players, Ozil and Samchez were nowhere to be seen. Alli and Kante were.

Not that Ozil being included would have been wrong either, he was great until Feb.

Don't get me wrong, I rate Ozil and wouldn't have a problem with him being in that team. But if it were in the place of, say, Payet, I could understand others questioning that. Like I said, someone has to miss out. And if we're just going off numbers, where do opinions come in?

Kane is in that zone and should cement a world class reputation. Alli still has plenty of time to prove himself, but he's still far away.

The likes of Cesc, Silva, Payet himself and the likes assist tons from set-pieces. Not sure why that's seen as some unique issue with Ozil. It's like how dare he know how to deliver a good set-piece. For your info, he has also assisted the most and created the most chances from open play.

Kane and Alli hve great potential, we will see how Spurs do next season when City, United, Liverpool and Chelsea will be much improved.

Ozil stats look good purely because of his first half of the season had something like 3 assists in 2016, when he was playing well he was very good but he has been poor this year.

Spurs have the best manager in the league whose proven. I'm not convinced with Pep and City and forget about Chelsea and Conti. Spurs will be right up there season in season out for next 5 years if they all keep together and add on.

Not an issue, just making the point that stats aren't the be all and end all

Id rather have A player who scored a winner than a player who scored and got an assist in a game you lose.

Ozil is a bit of a fair weather player imo, but of a luxury player which is no bad thing when you can afford to have a player like that.

As I said, I'd have no problem swapping Ozil in that 11 for another player.

Chelsea are a spent force as far as I'm concerned, and Conti is simply not the right man to propel them back to the top.

Love the way everyone assumes some sort of natural order will be restored next season, it's all you keep hearing.

The special one will bring balance to the force

Not from me. As things stand, I'd back Spurs to finish above us next year. All conjecture at the moment, though.

I wouldn't argue with this. He has generally had a great season, but ultimately fell short at the key stage. But there are far more culpable players than him. The collapse in form of 3 players we had put much hope in in Alexis, Ramsey and Walcott is probably the single biggest failure of our season. Not to mention Ozil spent a great portion of this season trying to orchestrate what was often a highly decimated midfield and attack.

Theres no natural order now. Pochatino has a system now, and everyone that's not followed his methods have been "shipped out" Towensend......
Truth be told, the old order is broken, and Spurs have a group of YOUNG players and a YOUNG manager to build something special. That is if Martin Lewis WANTS to keep them all together.

I think the thing that probably swayed votes here was that Ozil went missing when Arsenals title push went South.

I don't think they've been comfortably better. All can make a case for being in it.

I literally agre with everything you've said, I am a Spurs fan after all.

I was being sarcastic, that and the fact I couldn't shy away from doing a Star Wars joke.

Martin Lewis? Did you mean Joe Lewis or is that a genius nickname for Daniel Levy the money saving expert?
