Fleck shoots but Tugay could not get his foot on it. Still 2-0 to Rovers.
Final minute and Coventry get a corner. Maddison takes but comes off the back of Andy Williams. Goal kick to Coventry.
Three minutes added time.
Lund to Coppinger s who runs to the corner flag goes out for a Rovers corner,. Comes to nothing.
Fleeetwood 0-0 Blackpool.
Final whistle 2-0 to Rovers.
GGGGRRRRRRRRRREEEAAAATTTTT
Blackpool play Wigan at home and Peterborough away.
Fleetwood play Walsall away and end with Crewe at home.
It makes it vital that we beat Crewe next week and it looks like Burton will have made the second spot theirs before they play us. As I said at the beginning, next week is a very big game for us.
Great Result.
Would it have been better if blackpool had beaten Fleetwood because of Fleetwood gd
Rowe was MoM by a country mile today.
Special mentions to Luke Mac , Williams Butler, Alcock and Calder.
Mathews made a fantastic low save to his left with ten mins to go.
We are so much better in a 4-4-2.
We are not getting overrun in midfield now.
Mac Sheffrey and Rowe have made a big difference to us since they came in.
The weak link is Lund right now but we have no one else to play instead so we have to hope he is good enough in these next two games.
The fight goes on but we are really needing other results to help us out.
The difference in performances over the last few games, even some that we lost, has been amazing really.
I reckon that the change from wing backs to 4-4-2 plus the arrival of Gary Mac and Rowe gave been the catalyst for the change in fortunes.
Oh, and I would just like to congratulate the ref for his performance today.
He was actually very good.
Good news to come home to.
I too had said that it would probably be better for us if Blackpool had won as Fleetwood have an excellent GD.
Looks like Shrewsbury, whose GD is still worse than ours, were probably lucky again. Gillingham dominated the possession, loads more shots on goal, Shrewsbury 4 yellow cards and lots of fouls.
Please let their luck run out now. It seems like it is there week in week out.
Thanks Hound, I found keeping up with the game today to be a bit of a problem so I may have got a few thing wrong. Was it played at breakneck speed because that's what it sounded like.
It was much better having Biltcliffe commentate as he now does a really good job.
Perhaps our best hope is that Chesterfield only get a maximum of 1 point from their last 2 games - Bury (H) and Bradford (A). Relying on Crewe to get something at Fleetwood assuming Fleetwood lose at Walsall may be too much to wish for.
Wigan must win or draw at Blackpool of course too.
Well done fergie and the lads another never say die attitude and 3 points shame we didn't start like this sooner
It's still any 1 from 5 teams. We have to concentrate on winning the next match otherwise we have no chance. What the others do is out of our hands.
Westley sacked by Peterborough.
Yankee, to answer your question, the first half was played at a very high tempo.
Our players pressed and harried the Coventry players causing them to play hurried passes, often to no one in particular.
Whenever we list the ball the players chased it down again and usually won it back.
Our corners and free kicks were imaginative and varied and almost always were a threat.
They have been though for a few games now.
Two goals against Wigan came from corners, as did the goal at Chesterfield and the first one against Coventry.
My impression in the second half is that we were happy to do just enough to keep us in front without having to committ too many players forward.
Butler has recently "become Rob Jones".
I must say I cannot remember us scoring so many goals from corners not since Dave Penneys days it's good to see.
I wonder if the players know something we don't.
Pleased for Butler for some reason one or two dont seem to appreciate him.
Anyone else seen the highlights? Once again they are biased against the Rovers. Looking at them all we did was score two goals in the first half as Coventry appeared to have all the possession.
In the second half they again did all the attacking and we were restricted by them to counter attacks.
The Football League needs to look at the way these are edited because we are wasting our time watching them.
Frustrating for you Yankee but we know what really happened don't we.
Outstanding displays from the boys yesterday. Have to agree with Hound regarding the full backs, Evina did well going forward but kept getting caught not reading the game as balls kept going over his head. As for Lund, rabbit in headlights come to mind. He could become a decent player but not yet ready. Butler and Alcock looks like a very good partnership. Big Mac playing in front of them is a new man, playing the DM. Rowe has been the spark that has lit the flame inside the Rovers shirt that's been missing for a few months. Williams ran his socks off Tyson came on to partner him and they couldn't handle them. Williams almost gave him a goal that he deserved but was a gnats bâ—‹llocks away from heading the cross in. Looked good playing the 4-1-4-1 system yesterday, the players seem to play better and there's a hunger back in the team.
On a sad note, Shrewsburys win yesterday looks like they could of sent us down on goal difference as I'd worked it out we'd finish 20th. One place behind Fleetwood on goal difference. Blackpool and Shrewsbury were my teams to go down but can't see Peterborough doing us a favour at their place next week. Then again we don't do things the easy way.
RTID.
It will be tough but never say never.
We could get 51 points if we win our last two so in theory, Chesterfield in 18th downwards could still go down depending on how the results go.
It is unlikely we wlll stay up but strange things happen in football.
I agree with NY's frustration as the highlights give the impression Coventry had about 70% possession. That is why I'm so thankful for the good analyses from those of you at the game. If the miracle happens, maybe the Keepmoat should be renamed Stalag Luft III - oldies like me will remember Paul Brickhill's book and the later film.
Would anyone risk playing ats in place of lund
Well Lanza, we discussed that point on Saturday.
The one time that ATS played RB he had a very good game.
He has been so bad hound.
We have a couple of good results without him.
So long as they dont drag Mcullock out wide again.
