It will be interesting to see what wickets are prepared...I think pitches witha little bit of grass on..I dont want ultra green pitches.. If england lose the toss could be a problem for our batters..But who knows thats the beauty of test cricket..
first morning of a test summer at leeds cant get any better..
Not sure about other grounds but headingley is fully dependent on the weather... Clouds makes its a bowlers paradise and sunshine a flat wicket...
Interestingly for the latter part of the summer, could peter moores come to haunt England? This after reports indicating that Peter Moores could be ( or is the front runner) for Pakistan's next Head Coach job
Rashid according to the Yorkshire regulars has started the season well. He has removed the four ball from his over and also sped up a bit more.
Way too early to judge Rashid yet.. Conditions (hails and snow) will change in due course.. Let's see what he does by say end of July
Points system is a joke
will work easily in England favour.
Squad: AN Cook (captain), MM Ali, JM Anderson, JM Bairstow, JT Ball, SCJ Broad, NRD Compton, ST Finn, AD Hales, JE Root, BA Stokes, JM Vince...
I knew England would be keep faith with Hales and Compton..
I would give them the sri-lanka series to get runs otherwise time to move on..
I think it's sensible to give them a chance.
I saw a bit of Ball the other day and he impressed. Not sure he'll make it into the team though.
Uncapped Vince and Ball in England squad for Sri Lanka test - not seen any of them...
Pretty obvious to see who'll play.. only thing i see is the choice between Finn and ball. But the former will get chosen hes part of the incrowd.. am not convinced about Finn. hes got a good record. But just unsure about him.Ball bowls a fuller lenght compared to Finn.. Looks a good prospect.. Now will he ever play??
I`m surprised Hales has kept his place, they were quick to discard Lyth after an ordinary summer against some very good bowling last year, and Hales was poor in SA
To be fair lyth got plenty of games in a long summer.... Hales only run was in Saffers so probably a fair call.
Hales deserves another series to see if he has got it. Can't keep that opening spot a revolving door forever. I guess bell has unofficially discarded. Can't see him coming back now. Vince probably deserves his chance. Jury out on him though as he struggle against wagners short ball in the county match v lancs. Need a proper batter at 5 rather than bairstow or stokes. Seam bowling very strong. Ali continues to be picked by default though because he can bat, good fielder, safe choice. Either rashid or kerrigan should be in for me. Both probably won't be picked until the india tour though.
Fingers crossed we get enough play to force a result. Sri-lanka will bow first no matter what...I hope England bowl first aswell.. if theres weather around you need to take early wickets and hopefully bat past the opponents in your first innings.. we will see. cant wait though
Weather looking dry but nippy.... Definately a bowl first at headingley unless the sun is belting
I think most people have written Sri Lanka off, some predicting a white wash.
Careful Lads.......
Can't write off a team who've done well against us and who have Matthew's as captain.
If Sri-lanka can get huge scores against Englands bowlers. Then they deserve to win.. Cant see them being able to get enough runs.. if england bowl a good line and all 4 seam bowlers do it..The pressure put on the lankans batting will be immense.
good morning woke up early.. just listening to cri-info listening to an aussie woman and the person she was interviewing.. really narks me the fella saying its very rare england go into a home series has favourites.. why do you people make up basic lies??
England are favourites at home against anyone..
Prasad ruled out of tomorrows test.. Big blow for the lankans.
Confirmed team for tomorrow ;
Cook, Hales, Compton, Root, Vince, Stokes, Bairstow, Ali, Broad, Finn, Anderson
Yay...summer is nearly back..

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mainly cloudy today...gotta wln that toss and bowl
Its very muggy. top temp of 18c they recon..so not to bad for time of year.. England will bat more than likely.. 2 reasons why. England will chose to bat and sri-lanka will chose to bowl. but we'll see.
Oh and ps ,the point system is pointless if you escuse the pun.
Overcast and murky is best way I can describe headingley this morning... Definately bowl first day here
