I can talk football all day - can you not talk football without insulting people? Is it because you have no counter-argument?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Believe me fella I can talk football all day long and usually do. Just ask anyone here on the Chelsea board.

I think you're confusing 'talking football' for 'talking tripe about football'.

Chicken........

Nice try sunshine, but my response was to your incorrect argument that stated that because Modric had a 6 year contract it made him 4 times better than Mereiles.

That is the issue here and yet again you are proven wrong just as you were with the supposed media hyped AVB Pulis row.

I don´t expect an admission from you because it was not forthcoming last time either.

One day you might surprise me and actually get something right.

So far on this thread according to Spurs fans:

- A player is only as good as the length of his contract.

- Chelsea are miles behind City and Utd despite the fact that we´ve strengthened over the summer with Mata, Meireles and Lukaku and have Sturridge returning.

- McEachran is rubbish and will supposedly disappear like Scott Sinclair did.

Any other beauties from the Sours ?

Wasn't directed towards you but towards your fellow chelsea fan who resorts to personal insults and etc etc when he's been ripped a new one.

Yes one more, apparently we don´t have any decent young players at our club, that´s even after signing four young players in this window.

How about Chelsea find their own diamonds at home and abroad rather than attempting to bully English sides into selling them after they taken a chance on them and have developed them?
==========================================
Can you please explain the bullying reference, I thought Chelsea went about this in a thoroughly professional manner.

They made an offer to Spurs for Modric, Levy went public with it and then stated that the player was not for sale, Harry then stated "Well not at that price he isn't" indicating that Modric was for sale at a higher price (Not to mention a split in the Spurs camp) and Chelsea persued the player with increasing offers.

That's not bullying, it's exploiting a potential, it's how business works

Establishment..........

What point have you made on this thread that is actually correct?

I would say the one about us being behind the two Manchester teams is it.

Wow well done for that.

I love the way Spurs fans seem to forget where Modric came from before he was a Spurs player. No bullying then?

McEachran will never be a first team player for Chelsea unless the approach dramatically changes towards youth players. No one said McEchran (spelling?) is rubbish.

Chelsea are miles behind United and City - i'm very confident with that. Most chelsea fans I know would agree. Its a prediction just now but i'm happy with it.

In relation to the contract issue - someone said that a player with a longer contract is more valuable than when on a shorter contract which I would have to agree with.

I rest my case.

Dr Carneiro,

Are you still going on about the AVB comments against Stoke, where he was whinging that the Stoke players tackled too hard?

You were comparing the values of both Meireles & Modric like you would see in a ladybird book, A is for Apple, B is for Ball.

You didn't even know, or know to, take into consideration the length of contract when deciding a players value. Just because a player costs 1/4 of another does not mean mean he is 4 times less of a player. You're one of them people aren't you, who says "You lost 1-0, we beat them 2-0, so that means we'l beat you 3-0"?

Where's your proof for that?

That approached worked perfectly for Arsenal so far hasn't it?

=========================================
I now mate, I said yesterday that Harry complaining about players heads being turned is akin to Jordan complaining about Kerry Katona over publicising herself, it's absolutely ridiculous

Spurs took a punt on Modric when everyone had an opportunity to do so. Spurs have made him the man he is.

Given him a platform to prove himself domestically and abroad.

He was offered a new long term contract, he accepted and Levy has stood by the agreement. Unlucky Chelsea.

Go find your own diamond.

Again you demonstrate your inability to understand English.

That someone (chicken) said wrote that a player with a longer contract is better.

I kew that would get people talking

Establishment under siege

Irrelevant point of yr own. How is Spurs taking him away from Dinamo any different??? Superior club in current statue and finances offering him a bigger stage??? Plus, that had nothing to do with Levy being a 'hero', off-topic remark aswell.

chicken on a basketball

That's precisely the point. My example was touching on the concept of forcing someone to stay rather than persuading them to stay. Your example was further out of touch with football than mine, and that was some achivement actually. Contracts in football aren't the same as everyday money claims, etc... of course you can force a player to stay without legal ramifications, but it's not a sign of strength, in fact rejecting a 40mil offer is a sign of stupidity, n the article was asking whether Levy should be viewed as a 'hero'

Sorry if I have missed something but I think the question was "is he 4 times as good", not "is he worth 4 times as much"

And the answer to that would be a reounding no

Signing 4 players doesn't mean you have signed "decent young players", does it?

How are Mancienne & Carlton Cole getting on, after coming through as decent young players?

Chicken........

As you know the point made was not about value but about the respective players ability.

The question put to you was do you think Modric is four times better than Meireles?

The original point had nothing to do with contracts, although for the record they now both have similar length contracts in place.

But as i said before your track record of not addressing the facts is well proven.

posted on 3/9/11

It was a comparison between meireles (spelling?) and Modric.

Chicken was intimating that Modric is worth 4 times more because he has a long contract.

Maybe he didn't articulate it very well but i'd expect people to understand his point.

Anyway, I have reason to justify his comments.

Modric has a very long contract - thats why the large fee was rejected.

If he didn't want to stay that long then he shouldn't have signed it.
