Portugal will be their undoing - a far more tactically mature proposition.

Edwards should start i imagine as davies and ramsey are missing.

He will.

Should nullify Ronaldo and Nani, who won't have come up against such a tenacious engine in years. I just worry about their weaknesses elsewhere.

Hopefully, Sam will start up top and Hennessey will continue to command his back four like the General he is.

Agreed.

Portugal 4-0

Think we are seeing the effects of too much money in football. All the major teams and the favourites play as individuals. They don't seem bothered about the team or work as a unit.

The underdogs that are doing well these days (like you Leicester, Wales and Icleand) work well as a unit and have a great team spirit. It goes to show how far unity and desire get you in a team sport.

The only downside is Clownders getting in on the credit.

Great game, well deserved win. Wales doing a Leicester and showing that teamwork is far more valuable than talented individuals

Those 3 belgian defenders

You wouldn't see that on a sunday avo over the marshes.

If Messi had done that, you'd be wetting yourself with excitement.

He's only joking.

Isn't he?

I also bet that Sam pays his taxes and won't retire the next time he misses a penalty

Agreed, far too many 'stars' have been hopeless while hard work and grit is prevailing.

Gone are the days of watching greats at major tournaments, now we will just get far more huff puff and discipline.

Nice work from Kanu but the defending was pure comedy.

You should see it in the Spanish League. They just move out the way and say:

"After you, Lionel"

So Wales or Portugal in the final then, one side has won 4 games in 90 minutes and one side has not won a game in 90 minutes in this tournament.

Guess which one is the favourite?!?!

Fantastic result for Wales. A 1-1 draw against Belgium, (3-1 win if you count the two "headers", and a place in the semi-finals is something to be proud of.

Let's hope they can go all the way.

If you count the headers

Teams with the best passing stats in the tourney are Germany, Spain, England and Switzerland. Best possession stats are the same teams plus Ukraine. Proof indeed that these are the stats that matter. And Germany are only there because of their game against Northern Ireland which was the most one sided game in Euro history in terms of passing and possession

posted on 2/7/16

Only one stat matters in a game of football

posted on 2/7/16

Bizarre that you would think those stats matter, surely teams who simply pass a ball better overall regardless of possession would do better?

Just about every goal stems from a decent pass I would think.

Proof that headers level the playing field, I mean, just look at fellaini for gawd sake.

Got a soft spot for Wales and do hope they get past Portugal given they haven't even won a feckin match in 90 minutes yet which is a sad indictment for a shambles of a tournament set up.

Jorginho averaged more touches and passes per game than any player in Europe last season..but passing for passing sake gets you no where....italy have had less possession than their opponents in this euro but have used it well when they've had it

posted on 2/7/16

Completely agree, as would anyone which is why I was surprised DJ thought it mattered.

I want Wales to win, but my grievance is this; they should either call their country Dragon or have a whale on the flag.
