BREAKING: UEFA hand Russia suspended disqualification from #EURO2016  for crowd disturbances inside Stade Velodrome #SSNHQ

---

Serves them right tbh. Bunch of organised hooligans.

Suspended disqualification, doesn't that basically mean a final warning?

posted on 14/6/16

Not really huge. They haven't been disqualified. Only if it happens again INSIDE the stadium. They can still act as they want outside as UEFA have no jurisdiction over what goes on in the streets

True, but can you really see their fans being well behaved throughout the next 2 games?

1 flare being let off by 1 idiot in the fans (even a sneaky England fan in their end ) could see their national team disqualified.

It's a sad state of affairs that the tournament has had to put up with this, shiiiite world we live in.

What's the point of adding another suspended sentence on top of the other one they were still under ?

I find this more interesting. From the BBC.

The Russian government has condemned the "riots" which took place around their country's Euro 2016 game against England in Marseille on Saturday.

"This is absolutely unacceptable. We count on Russian citizens and fans to obey the laws of the country they are in," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, adding that "we can only call on our fans not to react to any sort of provocation."

The statement comes just hours after French authorities confirmed they are deporting a number of Russia supporters.

......................

I suspect that there will be some nasty looking individuals at the airport to meet those being deported, and some hasty employment in Siberia being arranged.

True I can see them behaving against Slovakia and if they go out against Wales then I think they will just kick off. What will they have to lose then.

The FA guy on BBC this morning was saying that is a myth and a ban can easily be handed out for issues that take place on the streets too.

Good point, not sure.

At least we'd be guaranteed 3rd place

Our draw looks equally favorable if we come 2nd as it does 1st anyway.

Yet UEFA will blindly back their world cup in 2 years time.

And I can see the new big wigs at FIFA looking into seeing if Russia will be suitable to hold the World Cup.

They didn't take any action against Rangers behaviour in Manchester because it was outside the stadium and therefore a civil matter for the UK authorities.

Don't they have a suspended 6 point deduction from 2012?

Is there a statute of limitations here?

Suggestion is that this suspended punishment relates only to the incident in the stadium, so would appear that as long as the russian fans behave during the match they can do what they like on the streets of lille.

I thought the same. As if they've been provoked.

What is the precedent with points if a team is kicked out?

Let's say they kick off again against Slovakia, what happens to the Wales game?

It would be a hell of a mess.

Exactly.

Basically they accept no responsibility for what happens on the streets as it's not their area of control it's the national authorities responsibility

David Davies (?) was very, very clear on this subject, this morning.

He said that in normal circumstances, they would only take serious action like disqualification for offences within the stadium, but can and will disqualify both teams for offences outside the stadium, if they see fit.

It is 100% up to UEFA to decide and there is no "jurisdiction" to take into account.

I don't think the Russian FA give a flying f-ck TBH. I read yesterday in the Guardian that one of the officials from Russia in France for the Euro's was a neonasi sympathiser who has been filmed giving HH salutes! While another Russian official said 'well done' about the Russian fans.

I know England had some pathetic idiots fighting in Marseille and generally acting like idiots but Russia took it to another level. I saw a f-cking go pro video of one of these Russian tw-ts in Marseille.
