Wenger and his valuation of players....mmmhhh.

Welcome in the real world Mr. Wenger.

Pay what is needed and move on ffs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
what's he worth then?

Weird that he just paid outright for Xhakha, I don't think he really rates Lacazette
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think 42M EUR max. gets him.

"The club statement read: "Olympique Lyonnais denies categorically having received a £40m offer from Arsenal for the transfer of Alexandre Lacazette as Le Progrès stated in its issue this morning.

"The club regrets once again that the publication has not bothered to contact them before publishing the false information which creates confusion on the day we publish annual turnover of £183m, up 111% compared to 2014/2015.

"The reality is that the Arsenal made ??an offer of £30m which Olympique Lyonnais did not respond to for one reason only: OL wants to keep Alexandre Lacazette because he is irreplaceable and one of the major leaders of Bruno Genesio's group."

He is def0 not everyone choice but he is still a good striker. Super quick and deadly finisher and still pretty young at 25.

Considering Chelsea got that Batsuway whatever his name is for around £30Mil and Lacazette is better a think Lyon can rightly say £29Mil is not enough. Think if we offer £38Mil we could get him.

well it's a bit of a game right, I'm sure we will get there, just can't risk offering that outright, and hopefully he wants to leave so that would help

Well you wouldn't expect us to go in at our highest bid would you? £30m is a fair starting point. Probably need another £6m to secure I recon.

Only if Lacazette kicks up a fuss. I don't think Lyon are going to be easy to negotiate with.

So Lyon want to stress that a £40m bid wasn't made, but a £30m was.
Sounds like they would take £40m tbh.

According to the papers, Petey. The same papers who said we were signing Higuain, Aubameyang, IcardI, Lacazette and countless others.

Where on earth would West Ham get that kind of cash from?

As it looks the bid was made earlier this summer by Arsenal. Why Lyon comes out in public now with the official rejection is strange.

This is why:

Lyon have announced they have rejected a bid from Arsenal for striker Alexandre Lacazette.

After a report in a French newspaper said the Gunners had offered 48m euros for Lacazette, 25, but the Ligue 1 club issued a statement saying the bid had actually been for 35m euros.

Lyon said they were not interested in the offer from the Premier League club because the France international is "irreplaceable."

This is an old bid which won't be revisited by wenger why is why we are potentially signing Wissam Ben Yedder

Because they actually want to sell the player but only for an improved offer. That's also why they mentioned the £40M. Like DJ said, they'd sell him at that price.

We are talking about an Initial offer of 35M EUR not £

I'd guess because they are hoping to generate an improved bid from us. We are clearly interested in him but I'd suggest that he is isn't our No 1 choice hence why we haven't returned with an improved bid.

This probably means that we have other targets who we are negotiating with. Perhaps we'll return to the Lacazette option if these other targets fall away.

Either way it's got to be seen as a positive that (with the Vardy offer) we have clearly identified the need for a new striker

I know but 35M euro is just under £30M and I think Aulas values Lacazette £10M higher.

Conclusive proof that we are still going for a top striker yet people here are still finding something to moan about
