Does openbox include on demand? We use a lot of on demand films and programmes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're gonna get a satellite receiver don't get Openbox. It's the worst, reflected in its price. Get a Linux based received. Also on demand is not included. However with a Linux based box, or if you have a smart Tv, you can install an app called Plex. You can pay a server £3 a month and you'll have access to a massive collection, way bigger than Netflix or old and new shows and films.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this. Plex is the best thing I use

Got a nowtv box added plex and hooked up to a server.

Got anything I want and gets updated with latest episodes of series or films plus has Iptv on it so get all channels too

Also you can get a hacked PremierLeaguePass subscription for £30 a year which is perfect quality and shows every game.

You can also pay £12 a month for a hacked Comcast account which will get you access to every single American satellite channel including every Premier League game which you can use on your computer, tablet or phone.

PLP haven't got the rights anymore. Think bein took them.

Also sky sports Ireland have the rights instead of Sentanta for the 3pm ko

Yeah you can get Bein Sports as part of the IPTV package which you'll pay £100 a year for.

As part of my subscription I get the Irish channels too.

My requirements are to be able to watch live or record what I cant watch, including more than one channel at a time or access to on demand. For football I want to be able to watch live, record the whole game or extended highlights rather than just MOTD. Need a decent TV guide as well.

Can you do that on Openbox, kodi or similar? I may well go down that route if its as easy to use and convenient as Sky once its set up (easy part is more for the wife and kids than me). If you tell sky you are leaving them they half the bill, so its not that much more than just line rental and broadband although I wont get BT sports with it

Better speed and experience ?
Than what, watching uninterrupted full sky package which I am watching, and have been watching for 3 years or more.
When I say channel list, I mean server, not the update lists you get from the likes of AJ sat.

I have a 750gb hard drive connected to my satellite receiver so can record and pause live TV etc. The menu(epg) looks exactly like Sky as I have changed the skin which Linux based receivers allow you to do. All channels are arranged numerically the same as Sky so no need to learn new channel numbers.

As for on demand there are many ways but for free you can simply install Kodi. For £3 a month Plex, for a better experience.

Do not go with talktalk, is my recommendation.

With my sky package I get everything (minus HD sport & movies) for £43 a month.

Just tell them you're leaving when you run out of contract.

Ah. You mean your line, as in n line.

By speed I mean the speed of the receiver. Openbox can be unresponsive and slow. I installed one for my mother, a V8 and it's woeful compared to mine which I paid only £20 more for. It's sort of an ignorance is bliss situation I suppose. If you haven't experienced the better receivers an Openbox might seem great.

No idea mate

I've only used the H1. It allows connection from both a satellite and cable, meaning you can have two tuners.

To be honest, its just how it would be if we had proper sky, albeit no hd in movies or sport.
Obviously the openbox user interface, and epg are pretty sh!t@, but you get used to them.
Wouldnt mind upgrading though, if you can put me in the right direction.

Also I wouldn't buy from the ZGemma site, it's a rip off. Better to buy from a forum where so crazy tech heads order in hundreds of them at a discount and sell them for cheaper. Mine was £60 but it's cheaper now as I got it last year.

Tried a Technomate first but as it wasn't Linux based I couldn't do what I wanted. Switched to ZGemma and it's like I have Sky. You can't see the difference. In future I'd like to get a VU Duo.

Just buy a Amazon tv stick or android box , download Kodi and use sports devil , every game is on there be it a midweek game or weekend mine cost 35 quid and basically acts as a tablet on my tv.

Check cskings. It's a forum for all this stuff. There's sellers on there and you get full support. They can't risk being banned from the forum as that's how they make their money.

Go on the below site and read up on what best. Have a whole section for all different types of zgemma and help how to set up

Yeah tech kings is best for ZGemma advice.

If money is no object you want to look at VU Duo and Dreambox however.

ZGemma started off as a clone but is now more respected but due to its reputation as a clone in the past it's cheaper than the two above.

I refuse to go with bt on principle alone. Look how crap the quality of their regular channels are, you can't tell me that's the best standard definition. Just a ploy to get people to sign up for hd, they're facking crooks.

Also as you know, satellite doesn't get you Sky's HD channels as they've encrypted it and the same will have to the SD channels in future. However if you get a cable subscription, which is more expensive then you'll have all HD channels. Eventually they'll all go.

The future is IPTV but for me it's not there yet. Soon the satellite will be a thing of the past and we'll have access to channels around the world through our internet connection.

I go to my local pub, who worry about all this for me. Very rarely do they not show a Utd game. It gets me out of the house, away from the wife and kids. No need to worry about driving home. Winner winner, chicken dinner.
