Lacazette

Given AFC’s current options is there anyone who would not want to see Lacazette (or another) CF signed?

Getting a bit close to the start of the season to be particularly choosy.

Exactly, this why I asked if anyone would have RvP back.

We should have gone all out and got a striker in as soon as the window opened.

Im asking how many times you have actually seen him play on tv???

How many do I need to have watched to qualify the statement that I like the way he plays. Like his you tube highlights as well.

Mario Gomez would be a good fit and available for less than 10m.

I’m sure as soon as the full extent of the Welbeck injury became known, the decision was made to bring someone in.

Unsure if the club put all their eggs in Vardy’s basket but the first offer for Lacazette was made toward the end of May. Lyon only chose make the bid public the other week.

I think the Giroud and money for Higuain came later than Lacazette. Thats why Giroud's agent started talking about a move to Napoli.

I dont think Lacazette is good enough. 21 goals in 34 games in the French league does not fill me with confidence. We should be going for better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To put that into context, only 2 players have scored more than 21 goals in a single Ligue 1 season in the last 5 years. And Lacazette is one of them.

Also someone put Lacazette's total goals for Lyon up against Girouds total goals for Arsenal. This, of course, neglects the fact Giroud came to Arsenal as an established striker in his mid twenties. Lacazette, on the other hand, came through Lyons youth system and so those games include when he was just breaking into senior football. He also started out on the wing. Pretty unfair comparison. Since his move to striker he has a 1 in 2 record.

Lacazette or Icardi i would be chuffed with either one of them.

If getting Mahrez means we have to sell Walcott & Campbell then it would be well worth it.

We are actually now overloaded in the CM area though with - Ramsey, Elneny, Coquelin, Wilshere, Xhaka & Cazorla.

Lets be honest i like Campbell but Wenger doesnt rate him. He's behind alot of players and the guy deserves to play week in week out.

Wenger will always pick Oxlade over Campbell, even Iwobi is ahead of him now in Wengers eyes.

campbell has done more in his Arsenal career than Ox ever has

Lacazette had the highest conversion rate in europe for 14/15 according to squawka, couldn't ding anything for this season though. If Sanchez is better from the right why does everyone seem to think we need a right sided player as opposed to someone on the left?

Been wondering that myself. Alexis was poor on the left last season, and it wasn't until Iwobi came in on the left that Alexis started finding better form.

Im sure Alexis and whoever is on the other wing swap sides throughout the game so it shouldnt really matter.

Alexis was terrific on the left when walcott was playing upfront. Just watch the home game vs Man Utd and how he cut them apart. Its more to do with movement up front opening up shooting lanes for him on the left.

1 game against probably the worst United team I've seen in my lifetime? Not saying he can't be effective on the left but over the course of the season and his career he's been better when deployed on the right.

posted on 1/8/16

How about watching all the games when Walcott played up front. Alexis was man of the match in FA Cup final.

Alexis has played very well with Welbeck up front as well. In fact he had a terrific start in the league in the season when Giroud was injured and then dropped off dramatically when Giroud returned to the team.
