Alavés are a newly promoted side amongst the legion of Liga clubs who roll over for the big boys. This isn't the PL, ffs!

This Alaves side are a bit of an unknown quantity. The game was totally winnable in Barca's eyes but making 7+ changes to your lineup and still hoping you'll get the same level of performance you normally get never happens. Enrique should have started Suarez, Messi and Iniesta and tried to take a lead into half time and then thought about resting them. It's a disrespectful thing to do underestimating your opponents but this is Barcelona we're talking about, it's a part of their nature and history.

Don't think being (dis)respectful comes into the equation really. You take your risks, and sometimes you miscalculate. Nobody complains when one of the big boys make 7 changes for a cup match against a 3rd division side; only when it goes pear-shaped and they get bitten on the backside, which happens from time to time.

Overjoyed that Barça lost, especially as it was at home. A nothing gap at this stage, but the noises from the Bernabeu this season have been all about regaining the league title, so hopefully we make Barça and Atleti sweat blood to claw back the difference.

I just hope that we don't try anything similar and regret it afterwards. The title race will be very tight and I don't expect barca to drop any more points any time soon. We'll see on 30th October when Real visit Alaves how good they really are. We got Espanyol away next round, we won both fixtures 6-0 last year while barca have another match against a promoted team vs Leganes.

Either way, good start to the season results-wise, couldn't have hoped for much more at this stage.

Yeah for me one of the main highlights have been the more prominent role of Kovacic. He's started of quite well and while not on Modric's level, here's hoping he can become an adequate replacement for him in a couple of years. I'm so glad we bought Modric.

I'm yet to watch a single minute this season...end of the summer/start of the school year is an extremely busy time of year for me. I'm still in preseason as far as getting my footy hat on goes.

Take it easy ioag. The real footballing season starts in the last 16 of the champions league.

Yeah, the All Blacks are in pretty amazing shape at the moment. What's scary is that I don't even think they are near their potential. Quite a lot of room for improvement
