For that money you would want to buy a difference maker.

He is.

I think you'll be surprised when you see him playing regularly.

Pogba was juves worst cm for much of his time there. He now slots into a much much worse team and midfield.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
this...people seem to forget that he had a very good midfield around him that carried him for long parts of games so he could pop up with a worldy at the end
Both are awful deals. Football is dead

I have seen him play regularly. He might be more suited to the premier league than italy but he is nothing special. I couldnt really say who is better out of him, kante and matuidi for example. All similar level
So we've went from Fergie making a monumental error in letting a world class talent go for next to nothing, to now that player being carried by other Juve players all these years bitterness is a terrible thing!!

Why would anyone be bitter at you? You were about 25 pts behind leicester last year mate.
Its about pogba not man u. You shouldnt have let a talent go for that cheap obviously. Doesnt mean he is a world beater worth 90m now though does it

Theres gona be some many people eating their words at the end of the season, Pogba is just pure class, if he plays that number 10 role for us he will score at least 15 goals in his first season and will assist plenty, the only fear i have is that Mou will stick with Rooney
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So if he plays in the same role as Alli, fresh out of league 1 and manages to better Alli's 10 goals and 9 assists, he'll show why he cost £84m more?

I don't know if possible but read my comments on him before the euros and over the last few months. i have been consistent with my comments saying this.
Vidal,Marchisio, Pirlo are fantastic players, better than any utd have imo.
Still only 23 aswell, going by players hes played with, ex players like Henry, and in UEFA team of the year, hes already in the top bracket of midfielders in world football, and can only get better. Is he worth the money we've paid, right now, probably not, give him 5/6/7 possibly more years and theres a good chance he will have been.
I have seen him play regularly.

Indeed.
I agree, Stones will learn a lot under Pep, probably all aspects of the game except defending
48m!! Why didn't they just go for Varane

Melton, do you think it's likely that Stones will go into the starting 11 for the weekend?

I actually think he will, yes.

I'm only asking for Fantasy Football purposes!
Ah, not sure I'd go for it for that. Does it split central defenders and full backs? (It's been years since I did fantasy football!)
I'd go for a Palace defender.
No a defender is just a defender.
Full backs that get assists usually better options.
But Stones current price is cheaper than you'll see any other 'starting' defender for a top 4 club

I play a back 3, with 2 likely title contending defenders and three defenders who rotate well Home and Away. My 2 ever presents are likely to be from United or City, but can't decide which. Then I have WBA, Boro and Watford who rotate well Home and Away for the first 8 games.
Valencia is probably the best shout for any United defender so far at £5.5m, looking like Joses first choice RB and has 4 assists pre-season already, he's remembered how to cross

I was looking at Valencia and Shaw or Bellerin and Monreal originally, but Arsenal are falling apart at the back in pre-season with injuries, so swerving them. Plus Arsenal have a rough start.

I believe pogba has had a luxury of playing alongside pirlo, marchisio and vidal etc who have done most his work for him in a 1 team league where nobody else can win the league so has hardly done much to justify the fee.
But Stone has literally done nothing and is already 22 and all I see is mistakes...football has gone crazy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would tend to agree to be honest. Although I think Pogba is clearly a safer bet considering what he has accomplished in the game so far.
Stones for me will be a mistake, can't see him getting rid of those errors in his game. You always feel like when he has the ball You can't quite relax... Evansitis I'd call it.
the shocking thing in all this is mangala will probably leave and people are forgetting that he went for ridiculous money also.
Baines is only £5.5 now after his price dropped from £7.5 at one point as he missed a lot of the season due t injuries.
Good price that as he will be a certain starter and I would expect them to at least be a little more solid under Koeman.

Tbf, i think Smalling a couple of years ago was like that, under LVG he has really established himself as a top drawer defender, always think its unfair on CBs being judged in their early 20s.
So £47.5m buys you the 59th ranked tackling defender last season. No wonder Pogba cost so much.
They laugh at our signings but they've spent over 150 million on stones, sterling, otamendi and mangala.
Absolutely terrible value for money there.

Pogba at 89 million or Stones at 48 million
