Chronic you are getting old like me you are the same age, 30 ain't you? I'm probably with you to a certain degree because I think as life goes on you start to have other priorities. Just bought my own home this year and me and my other half are travelling to Costa Rica next year. Having a home to pay for and other things to look forward to over power anything football related obviously. Especially with today's ridiculous over inflated transfer fees But at the same time once the season starts I'm sure I'll be pi*** off every week
Well 29/30 ain't much difference mate
You ain't that much younger than me
I have to admit to feeling less excited than last year. On the other hand I cant wait to see the impact of the newer managers and those that have spent gazillions on 'talent'. I have to admit I am a bit disappointed at the depth of our squad given our CL responsibilities. While I didn't want large numbers in I had expected a bit more of a sprinkle of in-bound activity.
A bit like last night for me - I got up at 3am to watch the anticipated meteor shower and nowt happened. All I could see was a tubby, tired looking bloke staring back at me with his bits hanging out.
But yeh have a weird sense of less excitement but maybe that's because last season exceeded our expectations and we probably won't have a season like it again.

I do get what the op is saying though, whilst I'm looking forward to a new season I feel the game has lost something over the last ten years or so.
Maybe it's because I was younger and now I'm a grumpy middle aged moaner but i preferred the game when we were sheite, and I mean third division sheite.
I used to be all football but have much more interest in other sports these days, such as Superbikes.
Ace face, I'm with you mate I really want trophies but let's be honest, we don't win much do we? not in my lifetime anyway

not for me, I didn't watch much of the euros and I am not bothered about international teams.

United fans' smugness before a ball has been kicked under a manager who lost his fackin marbles last season has been a rare joy though

yeah.
them and the mousers with their normal pre season optimism.
watching them both crash will be entertaining I give you that

I was gonna do a similar article to this, might still do one and go through all my issues with the game today.
Agree with it for the most part. Football is given too much credence these days, which has resulted in astronomical wages. You can just tell players nowadays don't really care much, if they lose a game they go home in their supercars to their busty model girlfriends to make them feel better.
Rise of social media gives every Muppet a chance to voice their opinion, create fake stories etc. puts ridiculous pressure on players/managers, it's only football Ffs. Fans nowadays (particularly big teams) don't really care about the football, just that they have a shiny new footballer to show off to their mates, to the point where it's not even exciting anymore.
Obviously clubs rinsing fans (like my own beloved arsenal) shows the game is a business now rather than.... a game (mainly at the top level).
Loads more I could go into but cba man, but if I could go back in time I'd slap myself silly at the point I got into football. So many more useful things to spend your time on.

Genuinely hope they make an absolute mess of this season. All the principles they used to preach about when SAF was there have suddenly been abandoned such as focusing on youth rather than spending loads like City, not to mention the abrupt 180 on Mourinho, they're all jostling for position to nosh him off
Same with op. Too much money and hype in the game EPL, rarely matches up to the bullsheite spewed by the media. Not all that bothered, prefer the CL.
