It's the night of the cheery caaaants tonight.
Wenger has become an absolute clown but if he signs good players and wins the league then that chnages things.
He was a top manager, now he's not and just like in the past the whole thing could flip - it won't obviously but saying you'd want him gone if he became a top manager with ambition seems odd.
It's all irrelevant anyway as he's past it and the club are a total joke so we won't progress until Wenger and the board leave.
Personally always felt players get it too easy under Wenger and take advantage and theres no players or coaches there anymore that have the backbone to stand up for him when theyre taking them pi ss messing about on social media or having extended periods of holidays etc or just unaccetable performances.

For a lot of people, if he signs the correct players...all is forgiven but for me and a growing number of supporters, we've had enough of this merry go round and it is time for a change.

Yeah fair enough. It's a shiiit time to be a supporter, as a club we have so much potential but the way we're being held back financially while paying the highest prices in the League is a total shafting.
Even I'm struggling to argue at this point. What is there even left to say.

Science you raise an interesting point. The board realise that Wenger's days are numbered, so from there prospective it becomes a financial gamble to back a manager that may not be in charge this time next season.

I actually don't think that's why we're not signing players.
I believe it's a combination of things:
1. Wenger is deluded about the quality of some of his players.
2. Wenger and the board dont want to pay todays prices for top players.
3. The owner is sponging off the club and only uses us as an asset, which is worth more the more money is stock piled in our accounts.
4. We have a very poor scouting network compared to the clubs who are now finding the lesser known genuine talent.

I agree with all of your points but I particularly find point No 2 interesting. Not that I believe all the rumours that I read or hear but don't you find it amazing that apparently Wenger has spent next to forever haggling over a couple of million pounds to secure the signing of Mustafi but because an agreement hasn't been met all of a sudden we have been linked to a Gimeneze from Athletico for the more expensive price of £40m, sounds to me like journos are making mischief...or is Wenger just going to make another bid that he knows that will never be accepted so that he can claim that he has made efforts in the transfer market?
Apparantly the reason we are negotiating so hard is to keep as much of the transfer budget free as possible for a striker
Posted on another thread but I'll put it here.
As me also.
Arsenal are becoming like England team to me, I never have any great expectation and never surprised if any team turns us over on their day. Takes the motivation out of supporting them on the day.
The best signings we could make IMO are a new manager and board. It's a farce how Arsenal are positioned now after the expectations that were sold to us if we were patient after going to the Emirates. A team to compete with the very best, your having a laff!

Pretty embarrassing we cant afford a top quality CB & striker. Depending on work i might be heading over to London. Just a question do i need to bring a collection plate to the emirates to raise some cash or perhaps a kickstarter to raise some quick funds.

Is it? £130m odd to get the pair on top of the £40m already paid out.
Not many clubs spend £170m in one window.
130m to get what pair, DJ?
A top quality CB and striker.
Good CBs like Mustafi are rated at £35m, so to get top quality you would have to go higher.
A good striker like Lacazette would cost £45m most likely, Lukaku has been quoted at £60m, so imagine what a top quality striker would cost.
Higuain and Stones, for example, went for a combined £125m - and Stones wouldn't be classed as a top quality CB by many yet.
yeah dj who for £130m, say Mustafi for £30m whos the mystery striker for £100m...
Dont forget we can sell some players as well, startin with Campbell.
Oh, Mustafi is top quality? I thought you meant better.
Chris was talking about Mustafi in his original 'keep the cost down' statement I thought?
Depends what you consider top quality. Lacazette and Mustafi , not that I've seen the latter play much, for 80m sounds about right and good business.
I just concluded you were referring to Mustafi in your first comment, tbh.
depends on what wenger see's in Mustafi, i.e will he be a backup CB 3/4 choice or a starting CB with Kos.
Yes, Mustafi.
In terms of signings, you'd probably consider him top quality from what I hear?
DJ please explain which defender and forward would cost us 130m?
Over exaggerating much?
