What Senor DingDong said....
I agree to an extent with the points regarding the width but that comes about from being too deep, If our wingers were getting the ball higher up the pitch then they'd have a chance of being more dangerous. They're not the type of players who can carry it 60yds & leave defenders in their trail as they've not got the pace of JJ but they do have the quality to deliver if given the opportunities!
world class players..... Joc for a start.
Name the southampton, or Brighton world class players?
Seriously. with COG Lowe and jj back. it will give us the attacking options, to blow away most teams. Poor madine, has worked his socks of last few games, with no service and marshall had one bad game.
If we played that bad all season and won every game, would you be gutted?? in a perfect world, we would play like Barca. and storm the league. Rate us in January.
Mike Oxlong
Agree, we are moving in the right direction. I guess I'm impatient and don't want to hang around in this division whilst getting so kind of solidity in place. We should've brought in 1 or 2 more midfield players with some creativity. If we hadn't lost to Bournemouth and Bury would we have even brought Marshall in? You have to wonder..
Hirstysleftpeg
Jeez man - I was being flippant about world class players. Southampton had Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana and Lambert and Brighton Murray, Bennett, Bridcutt and Barnes to name but 7 who I think are better than what we have.
Anyway, if you think O'Grady, Lowe and JJ are enough for us to be blowing teams away, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I rate Madine as well mind, you'll be happy to know so not sure where O'Grady fits in to this team that will be hammering people.
Murray, Bennett, Bridcutt and Barnes
You think they are better than we have???
Get away man.
These were unknowns, until last season. i think we have better, but lets agree to disagree.
Look the first half was very poor we went into shock when they scored 3mins in & all the defence went gitory & our captain went & got book hand bagging with morrison in thier box which made rest of the team scared of the ball, hats off to Charlton they wanted the ball & when they did lose it they were on our toes to get it back.
3511 is the worse formation i've seen Wednesday play in years but when we did revert back to 442 the midfielders didn't move for the ball which lefts us passing back to back four who had no choice but to punt it forward i couldn't wait for half time.
At the break Megson must have given them a right bolloxing cos they came out playing yes at times it wasn't pretty but least we were trying to keep it on floor pass & move. Ben Marshall started to cause more havoc in thier defence which made more space for thr midfielders to run into & it pains me to say this but the headless chicken played miles better than Semo when he came on Semo was very poor & his yellow card in the first half was stupid & pointless.
a draw was a good result for us it gives us somthing to build on away from home & a win at mk don would put us in the playoff position so it goes to show that most team in this league are just as inconsistant as us.
I put originally this on some dirty leeds artical but seem more fitting i put it here.
'These were unknowns, until last season.'
And O'Grady, Lowe and Madine are household names?
Who cares if they were unknowns anyway - that's the type of player we need to find and turn into recognisable names if we're to get up automatically.
Maybe Madine and Lowe can get some goals for us - I actually think they can but Barnes and Murray got 40 between them last year so I'm afriad that makes them better what we have at the moment until our guys prove otherwise.
Banging on about Southampton's slow start and the renown of Brighton's squad doesn't somehow mean we'll be winning the league.
"it pains me to say this but the headless chicken played miles better than Semo when he came on Semo was very poor"
You on the wind up??
Semedo was excellent, you could say the yellow was stupid or you could say he took one for the team as they had a decent break on!
Barnes and Murray got 40 between them last year so I'm afriad that makes them better what we have at the moment until our guys prove otherwise.
-----------------------------------
Madine and Lowe have got 10 between them after only 6 matches.....only 30 to go then to show their world beaters
trueblue
ha - whatever you say mate. Never said they were world beaters but no doubt if either of them signed for Wednesday you'd be calling them the same
WRT Southampton, Nigel Adkins is a genius - end of story! I wish we had him as our manager, he exudes positivity and confidence.
Sadly Mike, he's not, so for the time being we have to stick to what we've got and hope he achieves the desired results!
i_monster Semo played terrible in the first half yes he got better in the second half as did rest of the team but that silly yellow stopped him playing to his full potential yes it was a break but A wright-phillips wasn't even at the half way line & B we had 3 defenders behind the ball pointless!
Charlton were no better than us IMO. They are being touted as a promotion contender, so given the fact that we were playing away on a Monday night with a dire away record it must be a decent result.
We had decent away support.
Madine, IMO was AWOL all night - Morrison came on and showed him how to do it; he at least showed appetite.
Marshall and Lowe had their moments.
I though Jones and Baath looked decent enough all night, but were more exposed after JOC replaced Semedo. JOC ran around a lot but, surprisingly even for me, he harangued the Charlton players and put them off a bit (he is still a useless player though!!!). We lacked width all night and given this we had limited attacking options which clearly showed - Once we get some wide men playing we'll improve no end.
Overall good result.
I can't understand why there is so much whinging about how bad we were. Its League 1 ffs. We held our own against a good side, once we'd got back into the match after 20 mins or so, I think it would be fair to say we were Charlton's equal.
Maybe Madine and Lowe can get some goals for us - I actually think they can but Barnes and Murray got 40 between them last year so I'm afriad that makes them better what we have at the moment until our guys prove otherwise.
.............................................................
ffs we have only played 6 games and they have 10 already and like Trueblue says only 30 to go.
Hirstysleftpeg
ffs is right - what would it take for you to see that Brighton and Southampton are miles better teams and have better players than us, last season and this?
They both got over 90 points last season and are now in the top 2 places in the Championship. We are 9th in League One. Just accept it - they are streets ahead of our team. It doesn't mean we can't make the play-offs, or that Lowe and Madine aren't decent players themselves.
I was Shibboleth30
You're right - I do whinge. I'm just coming from the viewpoint that we should be looking at top 2 and to do that we need good players, League One or not.
I think it would be fair to say we were Charlton's equal; will that eb good enough? Time will tell i guess.
Agree re. the support.
I actually agree with this article.
Its a major dissapointment and the lack of creativity is worrying ! Prutton drifts out of games far to easily for me as it looks like he isgood when he has the ball. Semado is ou best player.
Marshall offered nothing last night although he looks good but sedge is usless and Lines is a CM - we need Koumas and another winger !
Think we were unlucky with Lowe getting injured but im not a Madine, Morrison or O;Grady fan so i still think scoring goals will be a problem.

I totally disagree.
I would say the diffrence is that both Brighton and Southampton have better manages than we have and after getting promoted they have added quality to maintain their momentum.
Its easy to say they had better players because they finished 1st and 2nd.
If we did the same, would you still say they were miles better? i Doubt it.
Madine and Lowe have not got 10 between them. Last time I looked Lowe hadn't scored any goals for us. He scored 7 for Bury and one of those was against us.
The Tortoise and the Hare. A truly great story.
I suppose for me to say people are whinging is a bit harsh.
Personally, I have a bit more faith in this current crop of players than I did in last years under Irvine. Having said that I would like to see a good pacey wide-man and someone with a bit more nouse than Madine up front; based on what i've seen of madine so far I think he'll be just another 'flash in the pan'
Megson is not necessarily an alchemist but he knows how to build a solid, hard working team. he has proven this at WBA, forget the Bolton saga - the fanbase there are deluded. If we had been awake form the kick off last night, you never klnow, but we may have just come away with 3 points albeit with a jittery and still learning squad.

Just sayin'.....stats can be twisted to match your view. Personally, I think the only goals that matter are the ones scored for us - those scored for others are only relevant for the player's personal stats at the end of the season.

Totally agree Izzy, but it goes to show that Lowe IMO can contribute somewhat to getting a 40 goal combined strike rate, with Madine.
Just like Brighton had.
