I think it's going backwards to go forwards with NP Diamond.
I'm just not sure we needed to go backwards. I can see it working when we change our style a bit and if we got a decent central MF in exchange for some of our other CM's, but it doesn't really grab me this whole keep your shape conservatism.

Maybe NP feels we need to be adept at more than one formation. It's alright playing 4 3 3, but it won't always work, and by about half way through the season, when 4 3 3 stops being effective for whatever reason we end up 'bottling it' as we have no alternative.
It might just be the players we have aren't good enough for that tho, not exactly asking that much of them to be able to play in different ways.
Still impenetrable at home though.
