Still obsessed with the real father of your child 666. I would be bitter at anyone who sacked me but even more bitter about the guy seduced my missus and left me to bring up the progeny.
Fact is that the basis of our team and the overwhelming majority of the better players were signed by Nigel, and at a fraction of the cost of subsequent signings.
Whether he could have moulded that team in to promotion contenders and signed players to shore up the weaknesses we still had, we will never know. Those days are gone now so it doesn't really matter.
The immediate future is Nigel Pearson not Clough. However on the performances so far I am not sure how long that will last. Pearson seems to have taken us back to days of Paul Jewell.
Indeed 666,
The most effective way to ensure Clough's silence would be to annihilate Burton tomorrow evening.
Derby's only appearance at the tyre ground should be in a pre season kick about.
They can't even muster 4,000 fans for this game and the Chairman has to publicly beg for fans to turn up.
All the money we have spent since Nigel and still our best team are Nigel's players playing the Nigel way 4-3-3.
You call Nigel for buying Sammon, Shack has been the only success by any other manager since Nigel was sacked and Nigel had to sell him.

I'd love to see us smash Burton or any other team but it isn't going to happen. We only beat Carlisle by the odd goal in 29 FFS.
'All the money we have spent'?
Scott Carson is the best keeper we've had here since Poom.
Christie > Tom Naylor, Ince > Theo, and George > Eustace.
You talk nonsense. Listen to AJ: AJ knows
Nigel Clough did a brilliant job for us and as has been said, seven of the team who thrashed Hull in the second leg were Clough signings. He has been gone for a while and can anyone but 666 say we are a better team now?
I usually want the Rams to win, but on Friday I'll have a little chuckle if Burton do us.

And of course 666, if Clough had remained as manager he would have bought new players over the last 3 years. Who knows we might have been promoted by now.
Please stay on topic, Silky Blue
VC: Your Nige proved time and again that he can't manage better players, or any who aren't in awe of his surname.
"Control the ball with the outside of your foot? That's a paddlin"
No, Clough is currently about three leagues higher than his talent merits and, as his (ahem) "achievements" in the game become as historically insignificant and as irrelevant as Forest's, so his power over players will recede yet further.
He's barely a has-been, more like a never-was, and can thank his father's magic for the nepotism that saw him able to con a living from the game for as long as he has.

Clough did a great job in stabalising the club but mostly the performances were boring.
Yes his newsagent did get us some decent players, but it took McLaren to form them into something far more exciting.
Clough is yesterdays man and why people still get a knot in the skiddies about him says more about that person with a bunch round the ring.
#lookingforwardnotback
I dont know how many players Clough signed whilst at Derby but it was a lot so therefore by law of averages some were going to turn out OK, more luck than judgement though IMO
Only reason he signed Martin was because he was free
In other news heard a big signing could happen today but that could mean literally as heard Peter Crouch mentioned
It's like you just can't learn, Silky.
Tut.
666 ? How do you know? You're too fat to get through the turnstiles and so you seldom see them play.
Could it be that your inherent nastiness and natural offensiveness is what's driving your anti Clough (and many others) sentiments which have no basis of reality or facts?

I wouldn't be disappointed with Crouch. We aren't scoring at the moment, and Crouch is a better footballer than his posture suggests he might be. Not a long term signing but he might be useful in getting us over the line.

Which one of those current players isn't an improvement then, Mapdini? Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, but I'm not, am I? You just can't pass up an opportunity to be nasty to me, despite my loveliness and caring demeanour; I'm an easy target for trolls like you.
Can't you recognise an attention seeking troll, 3R. It is what happens to a lot of people who were ignored in their teen years. We should be grateful he didn't become a serial killer.

Yes I can recognise but can't understand it. But, I do appreciate your finer points 666. And believe me I pass up plenty of opportunities to be nasty to you. I restrain myself almost as often as you post.
Great signings by Clough within the context of the times were.
Brayford, Buxton, Shackell, Russell, Martin, Keogh, Hendrick, Grant, Forsyth, Bryson, Wisdom, Hughes etc etc
I could go further but can't be bothered. He has been head and shoulders our very best recruiter.
Schteve signed Wisdom, add the signing of Thorne and they were probably the best things he ever did.
Hendrick came up through the academy, joining the club in 2008.
Clough joined us, sadly, in 2009.
Clough had nothing to do with Hughes or Hendrick and did he not sell Shackell and Grant too?

He never managed in his miserable soul destroying tenure to win more games than he lost so how is that better than the 3 managers who came after?
I'm not including NP in any comparison as it is far too early.
