Its's debatable whether Rooney is even a Jose type player as he's possibly one of the least tactically disciplined players out there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet he tried to sign him a few seasons ago
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rooney was a good striker then and personally I think Jose was happy to have dodge that bullet when they signed Costa the following season.

No, I backed LVG like I backed Moyes at the beginning and always wanted him to succeed. It was after months of terrible football that I began to lose patience with the man. Jose has had a very bad week, no doubt about that but it's still early and I will give him time.
rub
Yes he did it with Casillas but look what happened as a result, it causes a massive divide at the club and the player power ultimately lost Jose the job. Jose will be all to aware of that happening again with Rooney so will most likely be very cautious.
It's understandable but as United fans who don't care about Real we will want things sorted quickly.
Jose has to drop Rooney soon and hope that he can make it work without him in the team. It is a risk, as if the results don't come he has put immense pressure on himself. However, we aren't going to win the league with Rooney in the team, so it is really a shot to nothing. Time to show us those balls Jose or get out of the kitchen.
Pat Nevin did a good analysis of Rooney a few years back after our home defeat to City and what we saw was a player playing all over the place.
He has no discipline, which is another negative in his game recently.
One of the other issues that's being forgotten amidst the dropping Rooney saga is the fact that Jose has spent an absolute fortune.
There may be pressure on players with big price tags but there's more pressure on him to deliver following such an extravagant window.
Needs to get one of the other players to do him in training, simple.
Maybe Jose wanted to give Rooney a chance as he's always spoken of his admiration for him as a player and tried to sign him.
Also as club captain Jose needs to put forward a sense of unity within the squad and club.
But now as Rooney hasn't performed well in a few games Jose has the chance to 'rest' him tonight and if you play well then he's a decision to make for the weekend, Mikis slow start hasn't helped as if Miki was at his Dortmund level he'd be starting every game.
Maybe a few games on the bench will make Rooney up his game if he still has it in him.
OP I don't think any sensible United fan would even consider Jose out at the moment, Twitter and Facebook fans might make a throwaway comment

True and a few of us said that in the summer. It's totally understandable for a new manager to come in and at least see what Rooney can offer. Now he can hopefully see what we have for a few years and how bad he really is and ease him out. But like I've said, it won't be easy or straight forward, as Jose will know first hand with Casillas.
Problem with Rooney is he is almost un-dropable due to his HUGE wage.
The money men just can't justify having that amount of money going out of the bank each week for nothing.
It may only be a drop in the ocean in the big scheme of things but shareholders are probably the greediest forms of life on the planet and to see Rooney being paid his huge wage every week to not even be selected for a match day squad would not go down too well methinks.
Don't think that's an issue. Yes it's a lot of money but Young and Jones combined earn not much less and there's no issue not playing them.
6 games in and wanting jose out.

Perhaps Rooney isn't as undroppable as we think and JM has actually found up until now that he's merited inclusion...
Best thing would be for Rooney to do his ACL or have his leg broken. Maybe that could be arranged?

Fu·ck this article and, with all due respect, fu·ck anyone trying to issue "good fan" credentials.
Generally speaking, fans want what they consider best for their club. Some think more short term, others look at the longer term. Just because someone thinks that JM is going to have a detrimental influence on the club that cannot be compensated by short term success, it doesn't make them a bad fan.
The might be proved wrong, but that doesn't mean they don't love the club just as much as the next man.
