If someone shouts Racist over and over again it is not helping anything and it causes more divide than it heals.

The point is that if we continue to identify ourselves through skin colour / gender etc. the divide will always exist, it only inflames anger on all sides.

Like white people feel under threat now because they're blamed for all the woe's minorities have (I'm speaking more of the US here) it's all the white mans fault the balck man is held back, see Black Lives Matter.

But when Black Lives Matter get faced with facts like over 50% of homicides in America are by balck people with the vasty majority of these being black on black then they cry racism again.

It's a perpetual cycle that is getting worse, calling everyone racist for everything is not doing anything to enhance race relations.

The thing that a lot of white people these days don't understand is that they don't look at WHY the current situation is how it is. all this "its my ancestors fault not mine" attitude does not help at all. until white people actually take responsibility for their ancestors atrocities then we will never really be able to move forward.

i don't know how reliable your facts are, but if they are true then think why. if all black people were generally as rich as white people, do you think there would be all these murders, jail sentences etc. Fact is it is poverty that breeds crime and the fact is that black people have been kept in poverty for centuries and therefore people try and link black people to crime while missing the common relationship of poverty.

A lot of the crime committed by white people is by POOR white people. Its not hard to understand. Poor = crime; there are more poor blacks than poor whites therefore it seems more blacks commit crime. also, what is with "black on black". why is that even a thing. why does nobody say "white on white" crime?

Fact is, the powers that be who are really in control are so clever and have planned out everything. this is what they want, they want us arguing and hating each other while they continue to stay in power. its called "divide and conquer"

I agree that the real issue is poverty, like take the war on drugs for example, it's got feck all to do with drugs, it's a war on the poor, keep the community down, so as an example if a person is caught with a gram of powder cocaine the prison sentence is 3 times less than if you're caught with a gram of crack cocaine, the reason being crack is a poor mans drug and powder is a rich mans.

So this leads to prisons being flooded with young males (any race but more balck kids) who were caught with a few grams of crack on and are now in prison for 10-15 years.

If they get out they struggle to ever get a proper job they can live off hence the massive reoffending rates for ex cons.

When you say that white people need to acknowldge their ancestors mistakes etc, what would you think is a viable way of doing this and what actions could be taken?

I reckon shoot everyone on over 6 figs a year tomorrow, recircle that cash back into the economy

Questioning immigration is fine, but you need to ask why successive governments continue to fail to deliver affordable housing for Brits, let alone anyone else.

Theresa May was for Brexit originally, then supported Remain as they thought they would win and would therefore help her cause politically, now her real brexit views are coming out

A good debate, I'm relieved!

Definitely, prison is a whole other matter, private prisons, the fact that these prisons have shares in record companies - link to the type of music that is put out to trap young kids and make them commit crimes. Free labour = £££. Ultimately everything comes down to money.

But yes i agree the prison system is awful, there is no rehabilitation (hardly) and a lot of the inmates don't have many positive role models back home when they are out - its a simple cycle back to jail for many. Although often people join gangs because of poverty once again, and lack of a positive community in their neighbourhood so they only feel accepted by a gang who turn to be their "family". And of course its nigh on impossible to get a decent job after jail, especially if they have been selling drugs and making decent money its highly unlikely they will want to go and work in tesco. its all very difficult.

anyway, regarding your question I'm not a politician and I don't know too much but I would say firstly just acknowledgement, by the British/US/Spanish (and whoever else were involved), that the slave trade war wrong and a formal apology would do wonders. It would remove a massive weight and chip off the black community's shoulders.

This whole "get over it" attitude is disgusting and will never help. we remember 9/11, the first and second world war victims etc so why are we told to forget slavery?

Even reparations which is a touchy subject. I'm not 100% on the facts but I'm sure Jews received reparations and not to compare atrocities but a lot more black people were affected by slavery and segregation.
You have the argument of the fact that all of the Black diaspora alive today were not slaves but it doesn't diminish from the impact it still has on our lives.

Furthermore just to clarify when I say reparations I am not referring to handouts to individuals. I refer to structural reform of better schools, housing, training and job opportunities to allow us to get back onto our own 2 feet.

I will keep saying it, the problem with the UK is not the population but the concentration of the population around specific cities.

Let us assume we could disperse these populations with manufacturing and spread it around the country, the country would benefit
