Everton fans don't like us cos we were once at a similar level to them but now we've got better than them.
It helps that we make a lot more money than them, on match days we make twice the amount and will be even more so when our new stadium opens.
We basically have an extra 50 million, even more now with the CL than Everton.

This is your answer right here, OP.
Such a petty way of looking at things.
I think Chelsea and West Ham is to do with the hoolagism of the 70s and 80s. Arsenal never had a firm that matched the others, so the fans hate toward us is not ingrained through generations like the others.
Think the new generation of Chelsea fans see us as their rivals though, but because they beat us mostly it hasn't turned into hate.

There have been several surveys over the last few years about the most disliked teams, Spurs have never been in the top five I believe. Chelsea and Man United always come out as the most disliked.

Last three seasons Liverpool finished above Spurs, then Spurs finished above by about one point on the final day, then Spurs finished above us.
Ive seen Spurs fans on here list net spend, training grounds, coming 3rd and great charity work as achievements. Lollers McLollington from Lol land.
It's all relative and I can see why Spurs fans are pleased with that but in reality it's all a bit meh.

Sold out with ticket prices less than a lot of League One matches. Half the clubs in the PL could've done the same, I doubt many would be crowing as much about it though.
I don't hate any teams, especially as they are all currently behind Spurs where it really matters, the league table. <laugh >
The only table that matters is the final one
You could very justifiably extend the question and say "Why does anyone think football is important enough to get so worked up about it."
The answer's the same. They have nothing better to do.

You do know that Spurs are 2nd yeah?
The reason I'm asking all this now is because a colleague of mine is an Everton season ticket holder and was saying a moment ago that he likes and respects Arsenal but can't stand Spurs because he reckons you get too much publicity about being a big team which is not warranted because of your lack of trophies.

try and have a debate and put in a post with different points and then you get justanothertopperspur and philspurs come on to sum up why they may be disliked.
Sweeping statements with nothing to back it up.
Chelsea have lots of racist fans...i've been a season ticket holder for 20 years and have not witnessed any racism other than in paris...now im sure in the 70s and 80s there was but that definitely was not just residing within stamford bridge
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There was an element of sarcasm in my post which may have been difficult to detect....
But I will say I've only experienced racist abuse from two sets of fans - West Ham and Chelsea. And in greater numbers than what I'd consider a 'tiny minority'. And I do think that many of the problems between fans on a larger scale may have stemmed from those issues. Sorry if you don't like it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't Chelsea boo Paul Cannoville back in the day ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe they did, as well as a lot of other clubs fans if you listen to Paul himself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not Arsenal mate. We aint saints but I don't recall any racist stuff. Anti-Semitism though yeah we did do that. for some reason this always felt more socially acceptable especially as Spurs fans referred to themselves as Y.ds
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As annoying as arsenal fans are, they don't do the antisemetic nonsense like Chelsea and West Ham
There is an interesting distinction between United and LFC fans in reaction to their recent declines.
Most teams/fans will take a bit of pleasure seeing the big boys knocked off their perch and the Sky 4 love-in was nauseating for any fan outside of that cartel.
Therefore United and Liverpool fans have taken some abuse when they have slipped up, and rightly so. It's all good fun and part of the tribal nature of football.
The difference i see is that Utd fans, with some exceptions of course, seem much better able to cope with it. Liverpool fans get very defensive and as you witness on here, it always descends into "we're bigger than you" . This is rarely the case with United fans and i think they are slightly less insecure about their status. Their decline of late has been a bit of a dip in an otherwise glorious recent history.
Liverpool used to win trophies regularly, but their recent history is one of a single league cup in 10 years and coupled with missing out on UCL on a regular basis, and sometimes out of Europe altogether. While their history is glorious there is clear insecurity about their present/recent history. Having banged the "its all about trophies" drum so loud for so long, they are having to backtrack a bit and suddenly its "5 finals in the last ....years" or whatever.
It is an uncomfortable transition for may scoucers, and as the team who have mainly been responsible for usurping them in the top 4 it is our duty as football fans to rub their faces in it. I dont think Spurs fans can be blamed for this The fact they take such goading so badly adds to the entertainment.
