I wondered wether to mention this name and I know I am going to leave myself open to verbal abuse from many quarters - but here goes - how about Glenn Hoddle?
We have some good technical players on the books now and I am certain he would bring the best out of them.
He's at 33's Vinnie

Wouldn't be my choice as he's not won FA as a manager? and certainly did FA with us last time as I remember !

Vitor Pereira is perfect for what i want to see with total domination of the midfield and pressing teams til they suffocate.
I can well imagine Zenga being a different kettle of fish to work with compared to mild mannered Kenny. Looks like he's gonna need a job in Dubai if the missus keeps shouting for him to come back every time she needs a light bulb changing.... or other such matters requiring his attention.
As for all the Freedman stuff, it s not even funny any more.

Then we're going to need some fitter players, our lot struggle to go for much more than 70 minutes at the pace we play now.

You requested verbal abuse vinny, hope you get some for that suggestion! Terrible memories of his time in charge then to cap it all he walked out on the club on the eve of a new season
Didn't work out for him or us last time DJ, that's very true.
However, he worked wonders with Swindon, did well with Chelsea and even got England playing well.
There are not many British coaches around that are better than him in my opinion.

Not necessarily goldi.....for pressing? yes, but if you control the midfield with intelligence and actually passing the ball and maintaining possession you get to dictate the pace of the game.
This counter attacking crap that suddenly seems to be the 'in thing' is just dog shat football for me, way too frenetic and you never control the game and more often than not you by pass the midfield and if, like us, you can't put the ball in the net then it is a hiding to nothing.
Worked for Leicester Cinc.
Im not sure what kind of game your advocating, for me a pressing game means a terrier like midfield harassing the opposition when they don't have ball trying to win it back in good positions high up the field.
Whereas " control the midfield with intelligence and actually passing the ball and maintaining possession you get to dictate the pace of the game." sounds like Italian teams of the 90s, problem is we haven't got the intelligence or vision to use that type of game to unlock a defense, The number of times our guys couldn't get the ball past a defender either passing or dribbling last weekend was unbelievable. And that was with a good amount of possession.
We will have to disagree completely on that one Vinnie
It did work for Leicester Goldi but there is nothing to suggest that wasn't just an anomoly.
The style i am talking is the style Barca, Spain etc dish up, they get little recognition for the high press but it is critical to them having the ball for a large chunk of games.
Nobody will ever convince me that conceding possession all day long is a recipe for success.
As for the vision to unlock defences, we have just the man in Texeira, he absolutely has to be played centrally not wasted out wide, we have to get away from this 'energy and running' in the middle crap we seem hell bent on.
Lump it and hope. Worked for Man United, Chelsea, Leicester.
Faff about all day. Worked for Man City. Failed for Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs.
Should never be any debate about what is the best way for a manager to set up his team to play - it's always the one that best suits the players you have
Looks like the corrupt one is out of the picture.
Edwards, Ince or Freedman!

Doomed.
Yup.
Personally I'd take AVB or Parliament, but they want a English manager, what happened to the best man for the job.
Parliament........what.......
Pareira
Ffs
We won't be appointing any of those three.

I'm speechless too
Having possession for the sake of it might make your stats look pretty, but as we've seen time and again, it's goals that count.
I liken the counter attacking method to that of a boxer - absorbing attempted punches, then WHACK! a punch up the throat and out for the count.
Inviting the opposition to attack is actually opening them up and leaving them stretched and vulnerable to a swift counter, which is just one tactic available to a shrewd modern-thinking coach. The best coaches are versatile, and are fully aware there's more than one way to skin a cat.
The frightening odds are Butey's mate at 12-1.
