5 goals and 5 assists in 819mins of club football. Looks like he's proving his consistency to me.
-----------------------------------------------

819 mins of football is hardly enough to measure consistency. Walcott has started this season well, but I'm pretty damn pessimistic about his prospects of keeping up that form, given his track record.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He was consistent last season though. You don't see many with double figures in goals and assists.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
last season he was involved in 13 PL goals - there were 30 players in the PL involved in more, including Tadic, Eriksen, Barkley, Milner, and Lamela:

Big game? People still come with that same line? Did you recently forget his performance against Chelsea? Or didn't that count because Chelsea weren't "motivated"?
----------------------------------------------

You missed the part where I said he has had many good big-match performances. I just feel it's not been enough in his time here. Last season alone, if you saw Liverpool's demolition jobs on City (home and away) and Chelsea, and even the 0-0 draw at the Emirates, you'd see the massive influence Coutinho has on these games. His directness makes him a bigger threat: whether waltzing past players or hitting long range shots. Ozil provides a different dynamic which is highly dependent on how the team plays rather than actually lifting the team.

Koscielny is actually the best CB in the league though. So it's a different situation.

you say it as if it is a fact

Which player isn't dependent on a team?

None of you guys have provided a serious challenge to Koscielny being the best CB.
Van Dijk is a laugbable suggestion.

He only played 26 league games last season though.

Coutinho was the same last season as he's been every season. He has periods of amazing form and long lulls in form. He was just a tad more efficient in his scoring. But lots of midfielders were more productive. It's not just about tthe productivity, statistically, he did badly in a fair few areas. He's creating far more chances per game this season than he was last season.

For me, Firminho was comfortably your best attacking player last season and Coutinho wasn't as influential as I expected he'd be.

I'mn not sure how what others are doing effects Coutinho's consistency. 8 goals and 5 assists in 26 games seems pretty consistent to me.

Coutinho's a great player and if he is being over-rated it is to Liverpool's disadvantage because this will be his last season with them

Evertons players won't be going anywhere however.

Having seen a lot of Van Dijk, I'll disagree. You can call it another "Uncle Tom" moment, but Van Dijk is a player I've admired for a while and he was the defender I wanted us to get before we bought Mustafi. He's certainly one of the top CB's in the league even if not THE best.

Think Alderweireld has been excellent since he moved to England for Atletico Madrid's bench. I wouldn't swap Koscielny for any CB in the league, but I wouldn't say he's a definitive best either. It's disputable. Different defenders have different top qualities.

yes they probably will, stop being such a reactionary little to$$er all the time, Lukaku will probably be off for starters, Coutinho will move next summer IMO

This season Coutinho has been better than Ozil and Silva do he deserves the plaudits.

cheeky.

barkley's an interesting one though, the general perception would be that he is an unfulfilled talent/inconsistent, yet last season he was involved in 17 goals for a team that finished in the bottom half of the table.

You're highly argumentative as our Sturridge debate the other day showed. Sometimes, just accept that the perspective of other people are different from yours and your vantage points aren't the same.

I like the thought that, according to Koemans, the likes of Barca and Real are scouring football forums and yet English press to see who's currently being lauded.

If I was going to spend millions on a player it's the first place I'd look

Flannel.

I fail to understand how what others are doing effects Coutinho's consistency. If you could care to explain?

Silva and Ozil have been really poor this season though.

Statistically Chadli is outperforming them all....

not sure, but panenkas count double anyway, and i remember at least one of those.

i take a lot of interest in him because, ignoring the PL, he is a very unusual player for england, and does something we very rarely see for the national team, pick up the ball deep and really drive forward aggressively.

Coutinho is inconsistent. I don't care for another repeat of the Sturridge charade running round in the same circles with you. You can now fack off.

Talking as much bollox as you were before and now getting angry again. Quelle suprise.

Not my fault you don't know the meaning of words is it.

So inconsistent that he consistently scores and sets up goals apparently.

But because other people have been consistent to the power of one last season he therefore is not apparently.

Or something.

Sheriff

How often do you watch Liverpool matches?

Only reason I ask is I've watched every one so far this season, at the match and on telly, and can see Coutinho's consistency has improved this season. He did have a tendency to drift in and out of games. It's not something I've seen of him this season though.
