Eric Dier Vs Ander Herrera

That's what Carrick did so well for so many years for us, seemlessly dropping back into defence when the fullbacks push on. Difference is Carrick also offered much offensively with his excellent range of passing. But like I said, I rate Dier, fits into Poch's plans perfectly.

The only reason I'd say he wouldn't be someone I'd want at United is because like Carrick I'd want someone who does more than just screen the defence and recycle the ball.

People blamed Dier for the second goal last night, but I actually blame Stones.

Dier should have dropped back better and covered Isco, but why did Stones keep going on mazy runs at 2-1 up with minutes to go? He honestly has no brains that player.

I wonder if pogba will contribute as much in his first prem season as Dele Alli did.

..............

Probably not.

Will Dele Alli contribute to four league title wins like Pogba did.?

Certainly not with Spurs.

Herrera would KO Dier easily

I am sure someone was already penning an article, when the score was 2-0, as to why we missed a trick in not going for Stones.

He is probably one of the worst CB's in the league VC.

I reckon Dier would beat Herrera in an actual fight.

I don't get the Stones hype at all, at least Otamendi was once a fantastic player.

Apparently he can boot the ball out of defence nicely which makes him a world class defender. £50m for a clown, football eh?

posted on 16/11/16

Yet to call him timid, and worse than Djemba Djemba really is poor WUMming.
_______________

Considering all the Spurs fans here have their knickers well and truly twisted, I'd say the wumming appears to have been rather effective.

"So I know what he did, and I don’t like that kind of stuff. I don't need an apology. I'll see him soon'."

If the FA had any sense, they would ask the player to explain these comments. Or does "respect" only apply to referees nowadays? Imagine if a player like Roy Keane had ever said something like this.......

Stick Neymar CB and he will look equally as impressive on the ball

This will add a bit of spice to the game, just like the Chelsea one.

That was the game of last season IMO, awesome stuff

----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's really not a clown. The guy is a good defender but his problem for England is that no one makes any runs for him so he has to hang onto the ball more than he should.

He's doing pretty well for City bar the odd mistake which will be ironed out by Pep.

Gotta love English people. For years they slate their team for having no technical ability and then when a very classy defender comes along they slate him for trying to play the way people have been crying out for.

This is why the players are scared to fail with such a harsh judgement waiting for them at home

I care about technical ability little in CB's. Give me solid consistent players first any day of the week.

For what it's worth Dier would allow our players, particularly Pogba, to do what they do more effectively than Ander Herrera can. Because that's what Herrera is as well, a water carrier.

----------------------------------------------------

That's because Herrera's not really a defensive midfielder, no matter how well he's done in the role in the early stages of the season.

He's shown for us that he can score goals and cut defences open given freedom.

Labelling him as a water carrier is unfair.

I still want to see him used further forward where his energy and sharp short passing can be put to better use.

We became stretched in the latter stages last night for no apparent reason. Space just started to appear.

The game was ours. All we had to do was stay compact and use the ball well on the break.

Something to improve on but there were reasons to be encouraged last night.

Yup agree with that TRS Was really pleased with how we played last night. Was encouraging for sure

It was purposely spelt incorrectly as I though it would be a banned word on the site

............

Maybe you should leave the thinking to those more capable then.

Btw I think Dier is better on the ball than people give him credit for. He pinged some lovely balls in the Euros.

I generally find that people called Billy are people who have sever trouble writing the letter S, and somehow end up with a B.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

His passing range is good, especially crossing when given time on the ball. He played a lovely through-ball last night for example which allowed (I think Walcott) to round the keeper for a second time.

Take that time away from him and he panics and 95% of his passes are either backwards or a loss of possession.

Such a strange thread.

Dier & Herrera are water carriers.

They aren't worth talking about beyond saying do they do their job.

Pogba eats Deli Alli for breakfast, that might be a ttopic to discuss.
