Most films I go several years between watching, tbf.

Even my absolute favourites can go years between viewings. That said, I've watched Deadpool 3 times and the new Star Wars twice in the last couple of months. This is unusual behaviour though.

I honestly can't think of a film that satisfies your criteria though.

I can't watched any films with dogs in - unless I know the little guy is gonna make it all the way through with maybe a couple of snacks on the way,

Can I flip it Flash? A film I enjoyed but it's not excellent?

So The Shawshank Redemption, ok but never saw the fuss.

I'd actually put some of the Black Mirror episodes into your category, really liked them but they're such a diffuclt watch, mainly cause they make you think about yourself and how controlled you are etc.

I think Schindler's list fits mine, cos of the level of disgust etc it brings out of a person. Seriously powerful movie.

The Jesus one.

Passion of the Christ

I thought it was good, but all the lies during it ed me off.

No way could one make take all that beating, especially the claw hammer to eye socket.

The Bible has been lying to me for years, that was no different.

There are different ways excellent films are often not found enjoyable.

Schindlers List, 12 Years a Slave, Black Mirror I think are not enjoyable because of the topics. As they often cover dark themes.

Then there are experimental artsy films which are excellent but people find hard to enjoy. 2001: A space Odyssey, Andrei Tarkovsky mirror or any Lars Van Trier movie are all excellently made, and can be very thought provoking. Are they entertaining? Depends on what you find entertaining.

I can think of only a few films which I consider to be excellent but not entertaining.

- Lord of the Rings
- Mad Max: Fury Road
- Saving Private Ryan

I think its really the long action set pieces which bore me. I prefer story telling and character development. Probably why Action is my least favourite genre.

I never watched Schindlers list and it wasn't for the topic but for the way they presented him. Hollywoodised it.

That's what ruins a film for me.

Another film was spiderman. The while flag waving , mess with 1 mess with us all rubbish puts me off what would be enjoyable movies

I don't see the fuss with movies like hostel etc either or human centipede. Just trash imo
