Shaw injured still after the West Ham cup game?
Got to think Memphis and Morgan are on their way out
"Shame for Valencia and Carrick "
Sure they're gutted about not getting to fly to Ukraine to play in -12 degrees.
It's about time we stopped using Carrick in this competition. Thankfully we can start saving him for the league now.
Could mean a start for Fosu-Mensah tomorrow night with Valencia and Darmian being left at home.
That is surely the end for Schneiderlin and Memphis. A bit surprised at the former, not at all with the latter.
"A bit surprised at the former,"
Why?
Because he is a good player, we just haven't seen it at United. Maybe he isn't doing enough and deserves to be sold but I wouldn't at all be surprised if a club like Spurs took him and we saw a vastly improved player. He is a useful player if used correctly.
Schneiderlin is an ok midfielder.
Not exceptional at anything.
Now you can get away with this if you work hard, he doesn't, most notably his inability to track midfield runners

Making it in any professional sport can be a very fine line indeed. When ever you get the opportunity you have to take it by the scruff of the neck.
Neither Memphis or Morgan have done so. Rashford is an example of someone who did.
Quite surprised that we're leaving three fullbacks at home; not at all surprised about Carrick being rested or Depay and Schneiderlin being left out.
This leaves us with TFM and Young who can play at RB (Jones if absolutely necessary) and Blind and Rojo who can play at LB.
Although I'd hope for TFM to get a start, I'd guess it'll be:
Young---Jones---Rojo---Blind

I don't actually think Memphis or Morgan are that good.
Memphis it's over for him.
Looking at Memphis.
Dutch league.
Leading scorers in last couple of years
Vincent Jansen
Memphis Depay
A few seasons back Jozy Altidore had two seasons in Holland scoring 16 in 38 domestic games & 31 in 39 domestic games

Morgans a funny one for me... agree he's been underwhelming for us but I thought he looked the part at Saints... can't help feeling he'd show more if given a longer run.
though long and short of it is neither are playing so we'll not really miss them

To be fair, neither have I. I have never rated Memphis at all.
Morgan to me was a good player for Southampton but not much more.
I think the system there suited him more and just maybe Wanyama made him look better than he really is.

I can't say I've ever watched any domestic Dutch football, but my brother, who has been living in Groningen for years now, tells me that some of the lower end Ere Divisie teams are atrocious.
He equates the Ere Divisie to the Championship with two or three PL level sides.

I stayed up and watched part of your blowout win.
Would love to see Sherman vs Cowboys.
It was great to see Marshawn Lynch saying hi to his old mates. I think he's cool. Read last year about his charitable stuff.
But also read he dreamt of being a Packer.
I think the system there suited him more and just maybe Wanyama made him look better than he really is.
-------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps you're right about the system but he was excelling at Southampton long before Wanyama arrived.
Schneiderlin was Southampton's player of the season before Wanyama joined.

I doubt Altidore could score that amount in the championship.
I think it's League 1standard with a few Championship teams with CL money thrown in

Define "excelled" that's a strong word.
I think he did "good" at Southampton.

I just threw that one in there as a suggestion really. Happy to be proved wrong on it.

The Packers defence is all over the place this year. I think it is time they changed their defence coordinator.
My golfing buddy thinks so as well and he has followed the Packers for about 40 years.

I agree that the defence is shocking but think Dom Capers can turn it around.
We've had soo many injuries it's terrible. But at the same time we have had a talent drain and we need an elite CB and some top linemen
Define "excelled" that's a strong word.
----------------------------------------------------------
He was very good at Southampton. Definitely one of the best holding/box to box midfielders in the league during his time there.
Consistently top or thereabouts when it came to tackles and interceptions and his use of the ball was certainly better than what we've seen at United.

.................
Redskins have been the same. It is why our defence is so poor.

Redskins, you guys shouldn't have cut RG3, he just needed time and some pass protection.
You see Kapernick get dropped mid game?
