No way is there any tie that doesn't include John Stones.

As a Chelsea fan I question Alonso's honourably mention. He's not been a disaster by any stretch but he's been far from convincing.

Your assessment is pretty good overall though OP. Glad to see Kante getting top spot as he's just been incredible. Luiz too is like a different player from the one we sold.

Mane is the best signing for me so far.

Worst is a tie between Pogba and Sissoko. Pogba for the ludicrous fee in correlation to his performances. Sissoko for the fee and the fact that he's got plenty of PL experience.... during which time he's been cack anyway.

What about John Stones?
Ludicrous fee and he has been Sheite

Not the worst. Poor but not worse than Pogba or Sh!tsoko

Definitely been worse than Pogba.

Mustafi has not been a good signing. 35m was too much for him.

Worst is Janssen followed by Sane then Pogba and Xhaka for their prices and performances.

Best is Matip, Mane and Allen

Worst: Zaza

Jordan ibe 15m

I used to think he was good but he's been terrible

Stones and Jansen also awful along with Bravo

Best are kante, mane, ibra and matip

Best for me has been Matip, Kante, Mane and Luiz.

The worst Sissoko, Stones and maybe Pogba.

I know Pogba hasn't been too bad, and has shown a lot of class at times. However his overall game has been sloppy in midfield, and has had very little effect in big games. Good player, but a poor at signing at £90 million.

Some United fans try to look past how much he cost but thats really deluding yourself. I mean right now how many players in the premier league look like £90 million pound players? Probably none. Does Pogba even look like hes worth £40 million so far?

Who cares how much he cost. He slowly but surely getting better and better and could be one of if not the top cm in the world in a couple of yrs. will people still be banging on about his price tag. It's none of our money.
Look at Spurs for example. They paid over 60m for Sissoko, Nkodou and Jansenn. I know who I'd rather have. An 89m or 60m for them 3

What a bad example.

The price always will make a difference, if you can't accept this then you have no hope.

How does the price make a difference exactly especially to a money making machine like United

I don't know why people need a price tag to judge the ability of a footballer.

Because it changes expectation, rightly or wrongly.

With the inflation in transfer fees and how they tie into the economics of certain clubs, it's no longer as simple as saying 'well this player cost that much so he should be performing at this level', but there will always be an element of expectation based on a return on the pitch for the transfer fee.

This Pogba/price debate again....

Just because you can afford something, it doesn't mean you can't pay over the odds for it. Simple as that

Good analysis on Pogba.

Pogba will get double figures in assists and goals this year, something missing from the United engine room for a while. Is he worth 90m,of course not but to suggest not 40m is a little over the top.
Has had his moments good and bad but nobody can tell me he is not a top player.

You always have to factor in transfer fees when judging signings.

You also have to factor in longevity though, which you can't do after 5 months.

Players can have brilliant 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc seasons, that blow out of the water perceptions of season 1.

Surprised Matip isn't on the Top 5 list.

You can see the impact he's made on the Liverpool defence and to say he was signed on a free transfer as well. That's a bargain if you ever see one. £35m less than Mustafi and done just as well/if not better imo.

The price tag obviously makes a huge statement, the statement in the case of Pogba is that you are breaking the transfer record to sign a world class player who will be THE iconic player for your team, who will be THE superstar for your team. The fact that you can afford it is irrelevant.

Whilst the point Manc Python made about being a little more expensive than 3 fringe Spurs players that he decided to pick and chose is irrelevant. What 90m shows is that you are putting all your eggs in one basket (so to speak) and committing silly money on this one superstar who has to come good.

I dont buy into this sensationalist nonsence that Pogba has been a bad player so far, as he simply hasn't. Yet it has only taken Carrick to come into the team to show what Pogba really is about.

True. If i remade this list in a years time it could be entirely different.

Hate to do it but defiantly 2 of our own make the bad signings list Sissoko for obvious reasons with the ridiculous money we spent on him and Janssen who so far has been a major disappointment and looks total dog s**. Other bad signings are Stones, Sane, Zaza and Pogba so far. A few decent through balls from pogba don't cut it for me. Guy has come with a huge rep and massive price tags and has barely controlled any game he's played in. Looks weak as well and gets knocked off the ball a lot.

Some people really are just guessing when it comes to Pogba, just regurgitating what they hear in the media
