anyone here with sky or now tv,,,, check out the series "Sound Breaking" about the history of recording music. It is stunning and the 1st two episodes feature the beatles (and george martin) heavily.

They had some god awful songs, no doubt... But they made some truly beautiful and meaningful songs. They deserve every bit of praise they get.

Blackbird is probably my fave... Golden slumbers is beautiful. Most of my fave songs are McCartney's.

Seen that amte and agree it's brilliant.

I'm a Harrison man myself though, something, here comes the sun and his later solo stuff I just can't enough of.

Me and a mate have been having this debate foe years, he's a Mcartney man, it's got to the point where we just send links to a song to eachother saying "I'm right"

Twist and Shout is one of the great songs ever made

Anybody who doesn't like that song doesn't have a soul.

Anyone got a spare soul I can borrow?

I was about 19 and was with my mum in an Italian restaurant in Bayswater in West London for her birthday and that day she was told she was being made redundant and was in tears after the news.

Paul McCartney was in the same restaurant and after seeing my mum in tears paid the bill for us. Absolute legend

Please do not use the words 'Wings' and 'band' in the same sentence (unless explaining that the words 'Wings' and 'band' should not be used in the same sentence, in which case it is alright to do it. Twice.)

Just realised I am the only one who has actually used the words 'Wings' and 'band' in the same sentence. And I have now done it three times

Shocker. I'm off for a lie down.

I've grown up listening to the Beatles, which was all down to my fathers influence. With him playing in bands for years, playing in local pubs and clubs around Belfast and further afield, house parties were always brilliant.

Blackbird is such a hard song to play, and one of my favourite Beatles songs ever. Also love Real Love, Here, There and Everywhere amongst others already mentioned.

Were they overrated? Not in my opinion. Even McCartneys more 'recent' stuff isn't that bad. Shout out to Flaming Pie and Young Boy.

Love that Ji, makes it look so effortless, which just goes to show how talented he is with a guitar in his hands (or any stringed instrument for that matter).

He played drums on alot of songs too...

There was some joke when asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world and john replied "he's not even the best drummer in the beatles".

Paul's also a genius on piano.

Tricky one this, firstly because they are/were a very highly rated band
overrated? Who knows, but when you had extremely limited bands like Oasis being tagged (mainly by themselves) with the "best band In the world" moniker then you'd have to say no, the Beatles weren't overrated
