Those 2 at cb worry me gb. I'd play Hause, the midfield would be Cav, saiss, price, costa and barring injuries or suspension would keep that for the rest of the season, we need a settled side, all this chopping and changing is not helping.
not sure hause is any better than batth or stearman. if I was going to drop one of them it would be batth, who I think has struggled a bit for the last 18 months. but I don't expect the CBs to be the main problem Saturday because we ought to dominate play and keep Rotherham pressed back.
I remain unconvinced by saiss who I haven't see play well for 90 minutes and have only heard how good he was at newcastle. but i'm happy for him to get more games in the run in if he can find any form. one difficulty will be the lack of forward press with price/saiss together. neither of them are really threatening around the opposition's final third. between them this season they have 31 games, 1 assist, no goals.
If Edwards is in need of a rest then surely the game against the bottom club would be the perfect time to do it.
I'm totally amazed why Evans got an extended contract and isn't even in the match day squads. Is he injured?
This is also a perfect game to play 3-5-2 with Batth, Williamson and Hause as the back three. Have Iorfa and Doherty as wing backs and use our pace to get players forward.
Don't think Evans is injured. The injury that is worrying me is Mason, I think we've missed him.
I've missed mason in lots of games including ones he was rumoured to be in the team for
Team for Saturday.
Ike
Iorfa
Williamson
Hause
Doc
Cav.
Saiss
Price
Costa
Dicko
Wilson.

I'd prefer Mason in the number 10 role than Edwards any day.

Mason playing the ten albeit fleetingly got the best out of bodvarson, he is an intelligent player.
Amazed you would drop Saiss for Edwards if it came to it GB as just about everything I have read has been praise for the difference Saiss has made the last two games.
Would play the same three in midfield Saturday and have Edwards getting in the box as often as possible but the real need is getting cav and Costa on the wings but I suspect Marshall will keep the gig Saturday.
I don't see there is much of a comparison between them tbh.
mason is a forward, edwards is a midfielder. even though they both play best off the striker they still actually carry out their role in a totally different way. when mason plays he rarely gets back into the middle to help defend or support the other CMs. and edwards doesn't look to get the ball to feet and play with his back to goal when he goes forward.
mason pointless behind a front two IMO. edwards not the right man if yr going to play without width and try to trick yr way through the centre backs.
Agree with wolfie that we should go with 3 at the back tomorrow but don't agree with his 3.
I would love to see a starting 11 of
Ikeme
Marshall.......Williamson......Doherty
Price.......Saiss
Costa.......Weimann.........Cavaleiro
Bodvarsson.......Dicko
I think PL thinks more of a forward role for Marshall. My back three allows for both Iorfa and Doherty to get forward and help out at the back if needed. I don't think Cavalier can do that as he's only just back from injury.
Ikeme
Batth, Williamson Hause
Iorfa Costa Saiss Cavaleiro Doherty
Bodvarsson or Dicko Marshall
Have to say I think both those team set ups would be far too open when we don't have the ball. I don't think it's practical gem to play with only one centre back, particularly one in his 30s. And wolfies central midfield including Costa and Cavaleiro playing behind two front men leaves us far too open in the middle of the park. Both teams would be very easily broken down even by a team as poor as Rotherham.
I would prefer
Ikeme
Saiss, Batth, Hause
Marshall, Edwards, Price, Costa, Doherty
Weimann, Bodvarsson
Don't think now is the time to start debuting new formations like three at the back, just pick the best players available in their best positions.
Ikeme
Iorfa, hause, Williamson, Doherty
Saiss, price
Costa, Edwards, cav
Bod
And depending how ready cav is then perhaps Marshall instead.
If we went threw at the back I would go:
Ikeme
Iorfa Williamson Hause
Marshall Saiss Price Doherty
Costa Dicko Cav
We don't need to worry about that though, as Lambert won't do it.
some excellent sounding teams above lads...I look forward to watching PL pick Saville at LB and play 451 with a midfield of coady, edwards and price
I'm sorry. My joke appears to have turned out to be scarily close to the truth.
Lambert out now, please.

It does sound as though he doesn't have much of a clue as to how to use the players that are available to him. Maybe he's too close to them as it sounds as though observers from afar are able to analyse the needs more accurately.
