Luiz is still crap. You switch back to formation you played with him in his first spell and you'll have same issues.

You now have Kante too. He makes average centre backs look good.

You're not wrong about ours either. None of them are great. Neither would luiz be for us which further backs up my point.

You could argue that makes conte a more tactically astute manager than Jose then SE85

Maybe he is. Kante is the glue that holds that team together.

Cahill Luiz and Azpilicueta as a 3 man defence without Kante wouldn't be title favs.

Jose has switched to 3 at back recently too. Nothing wrong with being modest and appreciating other managers.

It's not just Kante.

Luiz can pass and has good feet. He's also got bottle to get on the ball and show for it.

You could put Smalling in there instead of Luiz and he'd still be sh!t on the ball. I agree you'd have the same previous issues in a flat back four though.

And there's no way we are selling martial for Perisic. Would be a huge step backwards.

Chelsea didn't look good at start of season. In fact after losing 3-0 at arsenal and sitting about 9pts off top so early on, Conte was briefly fav manager to be sacked next.

The change in formation has saved Chelsea and probably won them the title. Fair play to Conte and Chelsea. It's worked wonders.

Luiz isn't a great defender. Experienced defenders like Neville, Rio carragher have all said as much.

Kante and Matic definitely help that back line out massively.

And you're right about Smalling but what has that got to do with anything i don't know. I don't rate Smalling or any of our CB's better than average anyway.

Matic is shiiiit mate. Once we get Verratti it's game over.

I don't disagree with you, doesn't mean it won't happen though.

Martial seems unsettled with life at the moment and Jose doesn't seem to have taken to him as the fans have. Add in the prospect of another left sided attacker coming in and it doesn't look great.

Defensively he's not. Granted he's no Verratti with the ball. Hope you don't get him.

Saying that Verratti's injury record is a real issue. He gets plenty of layoffs.

People need to realise that a player who doesn't do what Jose wants might as well be a substitute

Perisic didn't even play last night so it could be Jose has his eye on another player and press have no idea as per usual.

Martial may also play more centrally which is another option. If Zlatan stays i quite like the idea of playing two up top with the 352 formation. I think we need some speed up there anyway.

Lots of its and buts.

Would be genuinely stunned if we bring in Perisic for Martial in a like for like replacement though.

Bit more like it Robb. Only way he leaves is if we buy Neymar Bale Griezmann or somebody like that to replace him.

Perisic is a good player. Wouldn't mind having him in the squad but he's not exactly going to be an adequate replacement for Martial.

Verratti to Barca (to replace Rakatic) and Jose was there to nab Rakatic last night makes sense.

There has been talk of him falling out with several Barca staff.

Rakitic would be a tremendous signing if we could pull that one off.

Kovacovic (spelling) from Madrid could be another who played. He's not really made an impact at Madrid. Another exciting midfield prospect.

I thought LvG sold Chicha and Welbeck for no good reason. If that's the case Martial weli fall under the same heading. If Martial is sold because he doesn't suit Jose then it's the same in the LvG case surely.

Key word being 'no good reason'

Replacing Martial with players like Perisic and Griezmann - two players who play exactly as Jose wants players to play is a good reason

Jose recently said that Hernandez n Welbeck would have never been sold under him. Along with Di Maria.

We will have to wait to see what comes out of this Croatia trip. Maybe nothing will.

I'll be very angry if Martial is sold and replaced by anything but a world class player because maybe isn't right now but he can be. Perisic is a good player but will never be world class / top drawer.

Martial could be a great player but there's no sign he'll be a great Jose player which is sad for the guy but the team comes first
