The defenders are not bad individually. maybe apart from monreal whose legs have gone. they just need some organisation and a better screener. which we needed last season as well but wenger thought replacing santi with xhaka was more urgent. an italian coach will sort this team out no problem. just need the board to do it.,
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why an Italian coach? I suspect this is a reference to Allegri, right? It honestly confuses me that there's a coach out there who was a defender as a player himself, has coached two different teams to league titles in the past decade (one being an unfashionble club) as well as taking both teams to CL quarter final berths (one making the semi), coached his national side to consecutive quarter finals that were only lost to the eventual champions and is a free agent for whom no compensation and very little persuasion would be needed and he isn't even being mentioned faintly by anyone. Laurent Blanc should be getting much more hype as a potential replacement for Wenger in my view. He's played over here too, lest we forget.

Not actually the worst ever idea.

Seriously, the guy can coach. I'm genuinely amazed that Tuchel (can't even keep pace with Leipzig despite having the 2nd most talented team in Germany) Howe (good grief) and Allegri (we really think we're going to prize him away from Juventus?) are getting more air time than a coach who's arguably more accomplished than all of them and, most crucially, available!

His PSG teams played good, if not spectacular football, they bossed some very good teams in their time and he was overwhelmingly dominant domestically, something Unai Emery (a very good coach) is proving isn't the given he made it look yea upon year.

I'd take him in a heartbeat as I think he's an outstanding coach anyway, but added to his availability and the fact that he knows the league having played here, I think it should be a given at this point if Wenger is to go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually completely agree with you. He seems like he could handle the transition well.

he has to chase back when playing for germany so i don't understand why he is so against doing it at club level.

Spot on. It's the transition that may prove most difficult for an incoming coach; Blanc knows England, Blanc knows big clubs and Blanc knows how to implement tactical gameplans that encourage both discipline and creativity. I think he'd be ideal for us.
