Wish him well. Another gem plucked out of Leeds before he blossomed into a very good player.
It's always struck me that footballers at top of the game can be under immense pressure.
With huge transfer fees and salaries come huge amounts of expectation and pressure.
A culture of celebrity and trying to outdo each other with shows of trappings of wealth and a lot of free time which some might find hard to usefully fill.
Add to that the more recent phenomena of massive increase in gambling AND social media you get a recipe for online and real world abuse which can be hugely influential to sports peoples well being.
Additionally, careers are short, it can't always be easy to come to terms that a career is never going to take off,or interrupted by injury, or change of manager etc or us just winding down.
With so much money in football one questions how much is being spent to safeguard players through challenges like these.
Let's hope it's a one off he can bounce back from.
Play for a proper club that will look after you, Aaron. Alternatively, you could always knock on the door at LUFC.
Best of luck to him, sad news.
Was a shock when I saw it on the news. Hope he gets better soon.
It's tragic. Without wanting to apportion blame this is where agents should start to add value and help to create the support that players need, young and old, when times get tough.
As the article says it's pretty much compulsory in any other business to have specialist resources available to support employees through difficult times.

Agree and disagree
A lot of the time, even close family won't know what the person is going through

Disagree with that totally, most small to medium size companies have absolutely nothing in place. Nothing at all.
While football can do better, it's better than most for mental help, most clubs employ someone.
I think the overall, things need to improve or try to
And I hope he gets better
Best 16 year old I have seen at leeds
