He tried his best yesterday to be fair which sort of makes it worse as he was so far off the pace it was untrue.

The tactics probably didn't help make him look any better to be fair but the drop has been really sharp.

Having said that I'd love it if he could sign off with us in Stockholm with a goal and lifting the trophy. He deserves that as a bit of a swansong I think for his efforts over the years a bit like Torres for Chelsea in the 2013 EL Final. Clearly past his best but a goal on the big occasion.

He's one of them blokes that has ability at a sport, but is not a natural athlete. Bit like Gazza. He's always struggled with his build, and he was never gonna be a Lampard or Gerrard type who played well at the highest level well into their mid 30's. Watching him play, it seems inconceivable that he is England and Man Utds all time record goal scorer.

I've got a mate at work who swears blind that Rooney should still start every game. He just won't see what's painfully evident from watching him actually play.

we just have to wait a few more weeks till he leaves.

Sky have done a fantastic job of making everyone think that the only real option was for Rooney to pass to Mata.

My personal opinion is that any striker worth his salt, clean through on goal, c.9 yards out, at a reasonable angle - which Rooney was - should be trying to (or at least forgiven for trying to) score...

i'll be honest to say, no one was confident of him slotting it past cech

Off the pace and it is so evident. Thought he could cut it in midfield but as last resort

Needs to play at a level below

However will always appreciate what he did!

I don't think he will drop down, not in England. He might go MLS or China, but would they want to pay his wages?

Playing Rooney isn't helping us in hopefully flogging him off in the summer.

It'll be scaring off the chinese if they are remotely interested.
Rooney should stick to under 21s so we can keep him off the television, that way there might be some people on the planet who still believe he is good.

Thinking about it, hes not even good enough for the under 21s.

He'd be one of the best players in China or the MLS, so why wouldn't they?

He's regressed but he's still a top 10 PL calibre player ffs!

You say that with conviction.

Place him in any top 10 team and ask yourself, would he improve this team?

Pretty sure the answer will be no every single time.

He'd improve any one of Leicester, Southampton or WBA. Quite ridiculous to suggest he wouldn't.

He's not match fit. Lack of consistent appearances has that impact...

Im interested to know what you think rooney has to offer these teams?

Its gotten to the point where id actually prefer fellaini over rooney and i absolutely loathe fellaini.

Rooney has been my favourite player for a very long time and I've defended him for his entire career but with my rose tinted specs on even I can see he is absolutely awful now.

2 goals and 3 assists in 4 starts and 1 sub appearance in the Europa League

4 goals and 5 assists in 12 starts and 10 sub appearances in the Premier League

At the start of the season he was one of our best performers.

I guess hes been looking for match fitness for 4+ years now then

He wouldn't improve Leicester. Or Saints. Maybe West Brom but do they have any strikers bar Rondon?

Course he would. He's better than Okazaki and Ulloa

posted on 8/5/17

Okazaki is better than Rooney. Better stamina and ball control and they are similar ages.

Have to disagree I guess.

Did I just read that right? Top 10

He would struggle in the championship ffs

Rooney's biggest problem is attention. He needs to be left alone. Put in players that take attention off him and he would be happy. He has always fecked up when given the limelight

I attend plenty of Championship games. He wouldn't.
