He also let down his mate, Wayne Bridge.
You won't hear me defending Giggs for his actions. Despicable behaviour. Not sure how that ties in with me questioning Terry being a great captain (off the pitch) though.

I mean look, even if you think Ferdinand is better, to say he's on another level to Terry is incredible and to deny Terry being world class is just as bad.
I do recall terry being considered by many the best CB in the world between 2004-2008. It's an opinion, but I do recall many having it. Ferdinand did not have the Same longetivity as Terry because ferdinand was at QPR I believe while Terry was winning the premier league in 14/15 as one or Chelsea's star players.
----------------------------
Rio is 2 years older than Terry. What do you expect? Terry hasn't really contributed to Chelsea's title win this season. The last time he won it he was 34 - the same age that Rio last won it.
It's funny how Giggs got a free pass for sleeping with his brother's wife for 8 years, but JT was universally hated after the Wayne Bridge stuff came out.
JT leaves Chelsea having won everything that a player can win at club level, being the highest scoring defender in PL history, and a having been a nominee in the Balon D'or list several times.
I don't think Rio Ferdinand played as key a role in United winning the league in 12-13 as Terry did in 14/15. That season Terry was the best CB in the league at what, 34 years old? He had fantastic longetivity, better than any other CB in the pl I can think of.
Rio was no saint to be honest. Heard through a source that he seen Rio sniffing coke in the toilets of a nightclub. No need to believe me but this ties in with that infamous drugs test that Rio conveniently missed. We all know what game he was playing there. Also read that Rio cheated many times whilst his now deceased wife was suffering cancer.
Well if we're gna throw sht at Terry then why not

The guy's clearly wumming. A United fan who, after an awful season for his team, is trying to amuse himself by taking some gloss off Terry's great send-off.
----------------------
No wumming from me. I just don' think he was quite as good as you are all making out. I'm not calling you lot wums for saying he was better than Rio. I am not calling you biased either. We just have different opinions and football is a game of opinions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course you are wumming. You are on the Chelsea board on the day when John Terry leaves the club, reiterating your opinion over and over that Rio Ferdinand was a better defender.
You've made your opinion clear. Why labour the point? No-one agrees with you here; that shouldn't surprise you.
---------------------
I came on the board to see what you lot were saying about the substitution, as I thought it was bit embarrassing. Then I found a few of you saying he was easily the best CB the PL has seen and I don't agree with that, so gave my opinion. Not sure why you are all upset about someone discussing football on a football forum.
And I a, reiterating my point about Rio being the better player because I am involved in a debate. Just the same as the Chelsea fans are reiterating their opinion that Terry is the better player. I don't have a problem with that.
Well look at that. Only in the one and only FIF PRO WORLD XI once compared to Terry's five.

I think that Terry played more games, wasn't he ever present? Rio had a few injuries that season and so missed a few games, but he still got in the PFA team of the year. Certainly a substantial contribution. Either way, he was still competing at the very top at 34, as was Terry. He didn't play much the following season, but I am not sure if that had anything to do with his wife having cancer or if it was just injuries.
As for longevity, Rio was 17 when he made his debut for West Ham. Terry was almost 19.

What stands out for me with Terry is how his prime was probably 2004-2008 in which he was, alonside Rio probably, considered the be one of the best CBs in the world. After that, like Rio, he began slowly declining I'd say whilst still remaining a starter for club. The difference between Terry and Rio is that Terry then had that revival under Mourinho in mourinho's first two years between 13-15 in which Terry was in that two year period again considered the best CB in the PL whereas Rio's career just petered out at that point, although I don't know what the situation with his wife was at that point. I still doubt he would have had that 'second peak' Terry had though.
It's not just about longetivity for me though, I firmly believe Terry was all around a better centre back than Rio at his best, and I think a lot of people down play some of Terry's more technical attributes and so unfairly judge him. Being a captain isn't strictly part of the discussion, but it's just another responsibility and role Terry had compared to Rio. It's worth noting that ping pong dudes list shows that Terry had more individual awards than Rio. Maybe not best to attach to much meaning to that, but it's something to consider.
I dunno if it's best to just say you have your opinion and I have mine and just leave it at that though.

I mean, are we seriously supposed to believe that they players in Spain are watching all the PL games? Sure, they might catch the odd game, or highlights, or the CL matches. But I seriously doubt that they are seeing enough to give a valid vote. Terry scored plenty of goals, so I am not too surprised that he caught the eye of players from abroad. But I'd personally put more weight on awards voted for by people/players in England who are seeing our PL matches week in week out.
