All season we've lacked goals from areas other than #9 ... We get linked with a #10 and a winger who score goals... People underwhelmed

Mata and Miki and rashford all scored the same amount he playing mainly out wide.

So not exactly what we would describe as an upgrade.

I can see Stretty's POV - i feel dirty acknowledging that.

Some of our fans seem to think we have a bottomless pit of cash - we don't. So have little misgivings about our outlay.

I am no accountant but our spending in the past half-decade has been terrible ( a lot of waste!!) and can't be sustained indefinitely.

No ones suggesting we do that. In fact the most of the people you're talking about have said we should not sign him or AG BASED on their fees.

From the little I've seen of him £40 mil is a lot money for him. Especially at 28 years old.

Overpriced and underwhelming are good descriptions here tbh.

His stats are also reasonable but not in my opinion 40mils worth.

John Stones went for 50m. John Stones is average. Perisic is actually a decent player and attackers always come with a premium. Also no-one really knew of Bernardo Silva before this season yet City have just spent 46m on him. We're spending 10m less on a player who has been on the radar for a couple of years.

Bernardo silva looks a better player and is 22 years old and they paid what? 5 million more.

John stones is average, but just because others buy average for high prices doesn't mean we should.

He looks a better player after one season. Also his build makes him a bit of a risk in a more physical league. He's definitely a great player but we have enough players with similar attributes.

We lack width, and he's comprehensively better at providing it than any winger we have. Two footed to still offers the threat inside. Don't think this will impact on Martial. I think Perisic will be used out right on his stronger foot to offer natural width and allow Mkhitaryan and Mata to both be used centrally.

Very happy with this signing.

Seconded.

Signing Bernardo Silva would have been pointless. Another good player but a false winger. He doesn't go past players on the by-line and get balls into box.

He suits city far more than he does us.

We need somebody different. An actual winger.

He actually looks a bit like Robben in some ways of his play.

I'm not suggesting we should of bought him.

But in terms of who's getting value, they are.

I have said all along, i am happy with the signing. Not ecstatic, but happy.

I think Perišić is a better fit than say Griezman.

I am just not wild about the cost.

Someone suggested yesterday adding 10-15 million and testing arsenals resolve for a player with a year left on his deal.

Whilst his age, same as this fella, isn't ideal, he is however a proven league beater.

If you're gonna spend big money, at least make sure it's on the proper standard of footballer.

I'm just gonna hold my hand up and say I'm not overwhelmed, whelmed or underwhelmed because I simply don't see enough of the guy play.

On paper, the signing makes sense... If a little expensive

Demebele and pulisic from Dortmund would also be preferable, also young and would justify a high fee.

£36 million really isn't much in today's market.

We are a club who got £750 million from Adidas and added to the huge CL money we're getting in addition to the latest shoelace manufacturer in Vietnam or the latest door handle company in Laos we can afford to spend a not so high amount of money on a guy who is a piece of the jigsaw

Ah yes, one of la ligas best defenders last season, bought in for 30 mil at 22 where he could go on to give us a decade of service.

Prettt sure most people were happy with that.

I don't think anyone predicted he would go onto be our best signing but no one was complaining about the deal.
