vanity election thinking she would basically kill the labour party and it backfired, how anyone can think conservatives won last night when they lost their majority is beyond me, yes labour didn't win but they outperformed expectation and at the moment are in the same boat as conservatives with no majority,

so before election con-majority lab no majority
after con-no majority lost seats lab no majority won seats

pretty easy to deuce who had the better night
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All true.

Point - people are celebrating Labour losing, bit only by a bit.

Weird no
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. People are celebrating conservatives losing which will give more control to those who are gonna strike a better deal for us during Brexit negotiations rather than this ridiculous hard Brexit she had planned. The working class are celebrating as since Brexit everything has fallen to pieces and now there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

The conservatives lost the election?

We are back to this again.

You actually think Labour won. They didn't by every measure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think Labour won. I said conservatives lost. Have you a reading problem? It's a hung parliament. Anybody can now team up and try to form a government.

Please do a bit of reading as I embarrassed for you.

The OP is notorious for his embarrassing articles, it's a shame he has to be Spurs fan.

Labour won by putting the pressure on

the other thing that is good about last night is now we can all sit back and watch the Tory infighting for a while as even at this early stage some tories are calling for her to resign...

I hope she doesn't and she keeps bumbling along!

May called an Election to get a bigger majority and then gets no majority? Yeh she had a great night.

That`s got to be the most embarrassing thing in Political history.

almost as embarrassing an article as the guy who, at about 11pm last night, declared that the exit polls were hopelessly misguided, and that based on his own personal "calculations" the tories would end up with a 30-40 seat majority.

What's more embarrassing is she will not stand down.

Let's not forget the terror attacks came at a good time for May (politically) since she is so strong on "national security" and was under fire for her policies.

No one won last night, we all lost. The state of British and world politics is appalling. We had an albeit benign dictatorship on the one hand who regard the population with apparent disdain and a kindly old gent on the other promising to splash cash like it was confetti and sod the consequences.
About the only good news to come out of this election is from our Scots chums clipping the wings of the sleight of hand party who might now have to get on solving the problems of their home nation than blaming everything thing on Westminster.

This is what the right wing media and donkey Tory supporters like RC have left to cling on. They thought they would be walking this election but your leader ended up fecking you over in the end

I want to say this article backfired as badly as Mays decision to call an election...

But even with my love of overstatement it is taking it to far, this article is a train wreck.

Fack me I'm not even British and know more about your political systme than some on here.

OP give up on life you've failed miserably like that Tory witch.

Tories had a large majority, would they purposely call an election when it's not mandated, to see that majority reduced?

Also your observation "Worst Conservative campaign in 200 years....and Labour came second by 50 seats"

Is plain wrong.

The seat has to be won by one party or the other, a bit like the goal difference when two teams play each other.

It's a swing of 25 seats needed for labour to be there, given the momentum they have, should cruise it.

Whoever is Corbyns campaign manager, they're excellent.

They "strengthened their position" did they.

Tell me, who got more seats and votes?

I agree on the campaign manager Red. In the run up to this election Labour has kept the lid on the unions, the far left blowhards and Dianne Abbott. The Conservatives mean while have been almost invisible. Even when they saw Labour getting closer in the rear view mirror I saw and heard zilch from them. My kids on the other hand seemed to know an awful lot about labour policies from social media / blogs and forums.

Tories pretty much lost because of the dementia tax, whoever came up with that just screwed the Tories over.

Brexit will go ahead, no matter who gets in to power.

Boris will probably take over from May and get the majority vote.

Labour got the same seats as they got back in 2010, no improvement really.

Cameron would of walked this election had he stayed in, though there wouldn't of been one if he didn't resign.
