Was on night shift last nights and several posters posted about going to bed happy as May, SNP, UKIP had all been humiliated and corbyn came out smelling of roses.

I mean, that is like a a football fan being happy there team lost a cup final because there rival lost the other cup final.

The Tories, with this 8-seat-shy "defeat", are in a stronger parliamentary position than after their 20-seat-shy "victory" in 2010.

Labour are 4 seats better off than 2010.

With Sinn Fein's reluctance to take their seats the Tories are just 4 shy of a majority.

It is a great victory over low expectations, but ultimately the Tories have won the election.

No spin to be spun.

The fact is, Labour could not get a majority to rule unless he got every single non-Tory sitting MP onside.

It was May - as terrible as she was - going to Her Maj today to start the process of forming a government.

I would probably put this Labour 'victory' on a par with Spurs losing 4-3 at Inter Milan after being 4-0 down and with 10 men

If they get rid in 6 months, Labour will be banking on them electing somebody more incompetent in an election campaign if they are to win the next GE.

Better hope it isn't Ruth Davidson after her performance

Ruth Davidson's only half-finished her job of saving my country.
As soon as she's done with the SNP, I'd be happy to see her set loose on Corbyn and his mates

Hah, bring her on, no SNP to bang on about as their only policy in order to win seats in England and Wales, she might have to actually formulate policies...

Not a Tory strongpoint these days!!

They do not have to be, but it is an unspoken rule.

Not likely soon, but all it would take is a safe incumbent MP to step down and a by-election to take olace

Just listening to Radio 5 one mancunian was talking about Theresa May approving to send fighters from the UK to fight in Libya, and they shut him down!

No chance of that happening - she is a poof and we all know what May's new best mates the DUP think of them...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed.

DUP are not homophobic, sexist or any other smear you Corbynista chuck about, after realizing you lost.

Vote corbyn, get DUP😁

Big fish in a small pond, she would get eaten alive if she ever got into Westminster.

They refuse to vote for same s ex marriage, so they are definitely homophobic. You ain't getting away with that one.

Whilst Labour lost the battle, they certainly ain't lost the war. Watch this space in the next few months. The Tory press are already ganging up on May.

TBH it is not so much their refusal to allow same s ex marriage that I would brandish them homophobic or bad for...

More things like calling homosexuality an abomination, their abortion laws being straight out of the 19th century, the climate change denial and their links to young earth creationism...

Outside of that they seem like a perfectly sane lot....

That is the price paid for the right for religions to not be held to the same standards as the non religious are.

Without getting in to the whole L/R nonsence again, the uber-socialist Livingstone openly courted al-Qaradawi - a man whose views - if his religion was taken out of the equation - would make the KKK blush.

HRH whilst I would wonder what openly courted means exactly I would point out Ken Livingstone talking/praising/helping someone isn't quite the same as the Tories having this group run our country with them...

Agreed, if their views are similar. This bloke makes the DUP look like Peter Tatchell though (see his criticism of the fella incidentally).

Abhorrent man.

Search for his name and Livingstone.

Yeah bloke seems like a nutter read a few different bits and pieces on him. The main defence of him seems to be that in the sort of extremist circles/part of the world he's in he's less extreme than some of the others, condemned 9/11 for example...

But incredibly racist to Jewish people and the support of FGM.

I'll just copy paste this bit here...

__________________________
Interestingly, his positions are criticized in some circles as being insufficiently extreme. While he has spoken out in support of suicide bombings – his condemnation of the 9/11 attacks, his lack of support for offensive jihads, and his refusal to condemn singing and movies have earned him the ire of some. For instance, in reaction to an al-Qaradawi fatwa that stated Muslims are allowed to sell pork and alcohol, the editors of the website of the Italian Muslim Assembly posted a letter under the heading, "A Warning for the Ummah against the Heretic Yusuf al-Qaradawi."[12] The letter read, "Dr. Qaradawi is today the public enemy N° 1 for Ahlu-s-Sunnah wa-l-Jama'ah [Families of the Sunnis and the Community]."[13]

Among al-Qaradawi's other so-called "moderate" beliefs criticized, is the stance that Islam supports democracy and the right to vote

Firstly this guy is clearly very bad this bit is about the only 'nice' thing I've found and you might rightly suggest that this kind of stuff should just be standard.

I've never once thought of myself as a good person for allowing people to dance if they want....

Also Ken shouldn't be praising someone like this, not unless very carefully done regardless of the circumstances. You can for example say his stance on 9/11 is good. Calling him a leading progressive voice is just stupid, I understand the context may have been a crowd to which he could have been considered a progressive voice...

But Ken calling him a progressive voice reaches a much larger audience than just the context of the situation he does it in.

At best praising him like that is stupid and a little dangerous.
