Was a very good goal and he played well that day. He wasn't the player people were raving about though.
Angel Gomes was the one being talked about that week.
He's 21. If he was that good he'd have made it well before now especially under LVG.
Good luck to the lad
Oh my bad, waste of an article then, good luck to the lad though
21 and needs to be a first team regular... obviously wasn't going to get regular starts so has decided to take a step back to move forwards
good luck to him
We've got Pereira coming back from Spain as well so Harrop was never going to play.
my only question would be why, if his contract was expiring (ie we won't get a fee), and he isn't part of any first-team plans, did he play at all in that final dead rubber?
why not just give his spot to a member of the youth teams who was actually going to be here next season?

Give him a chance to play at Old Trafford before leaving? He may have impressed Jose with his work ethic, more so than his ability

Possibly to get his name out there (for interested clubs ) ?
And to give him a great send off to finally play at OT,which is what every young United players dream is.

i guess so, just seems like a slightly wasted opportunity from the point of view of the first team...in the end worked out well at least, match was won, player finds new club
Presumably we'll get some sort of compensation?
We offered him a contract, he declined it for first team football.

i think you get compensation rather than a fee, some modest payment to reflect the 4-5 years of training he has received, don't know how that is worked out though
Heard the likes of Lyon and Bordeaux were interested in him.
Bit of an anti climax where he ended up.

Fair play to him. Playing championship football is better than playing for the reserves

He's a lifelong red. All of his family are reds. He's been at the club a long time and scored a sublime hattrick for the Reserves the week before the game.
He deserved to make an appearance for the seniors and took that chance with aplomb.
This season always looked like his last chance to impress enough to secure a first team squad berth, and he had a tough year due to the epic balls-up in the U23 squad management that saw us play nearly a whole season without a recognised striker. As a result, Josh played out of position up top and without credible support most weeks and often cut something of a frustrated figure.
I'm not surprised he's leaving. I think he'll go on to have a good career likely ending up with a PL side, but it was always going to be tough for him with Pereira coming back, Gribbin snapping at his heels and Chong, Boonen and Gomes not too far behind.

We'll sign him back for a world record fee in 5 years!
I do like your updates on the youth Rosso. Do keep them coming, it's really my only way of keeping in touch now.

Swear people have been talking about Pereira for about 40 years.
We've been waiting for him to come back for 40 years!
Credit to the lad for being willing to take a step down in order to progress. I really hope the move works out for him and we see him playing regularly in the PL in the future.
His stats will always look great at Man Utd.
Club career
Harrop marked his senior debut with a goal for United against Crystal Palace on the last day of the 2016–17 Premier League season, the first of a 2–0 win.[3] His goal meant he became Manchester United's 100th different scorer in the Premier League.[3] Despite this, Manchester United released Harrop at the end of his contract in June 2017, allowing him to move to Preston North End on a four-year contract.[4]

So he was offered a contract but declined it. I suppose he didn't get much of a chance.
