I saw similar from Spurs fans when Bale left and everyone was saying Townsend was just Bale with a right foot.
The "brain farts" thing hasn't really been relevant for the past couple of seasons. He's made no more mistakes than any other very good RB in that time.

No. Only Eriksen was.
If 3-4-2-1 is our main formation next season then Trippiers defensive limitations won't be exposed at WB with a Dier and Wanyama in particular covering in behind.
Trippier is an excellent WB but not a great RB.
It sends out the wrong message though, the best spurs team in years and we let a financially doped rival start to pick it apart.

the way I see it is this....
of all the first team players, if I had to pick one to go, it would probably be walker.
selling him for big money now relieves any pressure that there might have been for financial reasons to sell.
assuming we replace him properly, and for cheaper, we should have just got ourself at least 20mill more to put towards a class attacking mid
You only notice how limited Trippier is when you play the better teams . He struggles against more technical and agile players and technically is found wanting when pressed. It's obvious When we play the poorer teams who put no pressure on him he looks world class. !
I Hope we get a replacement for Walker as don't think Trippier is that great when we step up a level.

Trippier isnt some youngster he's the same age walker is and he's played nearly 50 times for us more than adequate time to judge someone.

Walker's greatest asset is his pace while Trip's is his delivery. I think there is a very good chance for Trips to develop under Poch just as Walker & Rose have done. Lets be honest most of us though Walker was a total Liability until Poch got hold of him ! I think its the system and the coaching that have caused our FBs to make such great strikes as it allows them both to attack. Put it this way I'd take 50mln for Walker over 50mln for Dier anyday of the week. Unlike the Man United, City's Etc.... This great spurs team has been built around a team ethos rather than just collecting a number of shiny expensive new players
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
good point....but yet again we are showing that if the moneys right we'll sell....even to a rival...which I thought darth had promised would never happen again
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hit the nail on the head. What this deal represents is far more worrying than having 50mln in the bank and having Trips @ RB instead of walker. Until this wage ceiling is DESTROYED we are gonna continue to have these issues. These Players play for Spurs to earn a living & to make money (YES, even Kane). We either decide we are joining the top tier challenging for titles etc or we don't. I'm not saying that we have to run around paying a minimum of 50mln for anything that moves like the dopes in Manchester but the players we have & value the highest have to be paid competitive wages. We can continue to be selective with scouting, unearthing talent etc and bringing through kids but the Likes of Toby, Dier,Jan, Hugo, Harry, Eriksen & Dele need to be on top wages as they are top players at a club who have won more matches than anybody else over the past 2 years in the richest league in the world. If that means we don't run around spending a fortune on new signings over the next couple of years then so be it.

We have only sold players who wanted to leave.. what part of that dont you understand
The player wanted to move back up north, hard to keep a player then and the same with all clubs even Man Utd
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah right so when Kane, dele or Toby want to go we should just sell then yea?

We sold them........ players have all the power now, what do you want to do force him to stay....... contracts mean nothing in the modern game with agents and silly money......... I want players playing who want to wear the shirt and lot of players want to play for Poch so lets hope he stays
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We sold them because we are a selling club
Comparing Trippier to Kane ffs Weare
One had lower league loans and was 20 years old. The other has played at least 20+ games for us, is 26 and had a career at Burnley ffs.

He wanted to leave bc he fell out with Poch who dropped him over fitness/training issues. I think the 150K a week was far more influential than being homesick !
