The weather looks too good for it to be February/March.

Weather around March?? Was the only good days we facking had up until about a week or two ago. Weather has been so sheit this year

I have no clue btw saw a few others post it and didn’t fact check because it isn’t something I care a whole lot about tbh

People overplay the Sky/Skybet thing. Sky only have a minority stake in Skybet now. I think the timing is too convenient for Kane not to have had a hand in it.

I wasn’t talking about the sky/skybet thing. That YouTube series is purely sponsored by skybet

Got a question for you, Edin. Do you think a season out of Europe might be better for you next season? Obviously the issue with Kane won’t hinge on playing in these lower European competitions, so he’ll either move because someone stumps up the cash, or he doesn’t because nobody has.

There’s the loss of income to consider, obviously. But I’m thinking that if someone like Potter came in Spurs could really benefit from trimming down the squad and having the time on the training pitch to really get the team well drilled.

People seem to haver underplayed the turnover of players at Spurs the last few years. It’s a very different looking squad from the one that Pochettino had purring. I think they could really do with some time on the training pitch to build some chemistry with these new players.

Ah I see. I still think Kane will have been consulted on it being released, though.

Good question - I think you are right but would add that a lot of that turnover came at the end of Poch/Jose nightmare.

Someone like Potter or Ten Hag would hugely benefit from that extra training time I completely agree, it also does wonders for player burnout and match prep as well. It could propel us back to a top 3 side (if City weren’t such a juggernaut I’d suggest that it could help us have a shot at the title).

I talk about this a lot on GN but I think Potter prefers the 4222, but opted for a back 5 this season due to personnel. We could foreseeably see us play something like:

Kane Son
Lucas/berg Ndombele PEH GLC
Reggie Rodon Toby Aurier
Lloris

In which compared to Brighton’s personnel only Bissouma is a clear upgrade

Kane only recently expressed his desire to leave didn't he? Would be a very weird interview to give a few months ago.

Some journalists close to the club mention how Kane was discussing it with the club last summer

I wouldn’t go that far, but it could help push for a top four spot again. I think a back three could work well if Potter comes in for you. It helps protect your weak full backs and centre backs.

Kane’s future obviously dictates everything for Spurs, but I reckon a season out of Europe could just allow Spurs to take a step back and refresh things. Build up a spine and then see where you are again next summer.

It can be hard to predict how Potter will play even from game to game sometimes as like Tuchel, he's very flexible and very good at making adjustments before and during games. He's favoured playing with a back three/five this season but his use of it can vary.

Spurs with Potter in charge and without a European schedule could be a very dangerous team next season, even without Kane.

I’m hoping he stays at Brighton and we can loan them Garner, apparently Brighton have been in touch over him. Though I would like to see how he’d do at a bigger club.

If we don't sign a midfielder this summer, I'd keep him around next season because I couldn't deal with having the same set of midfield options as we do now.

I'd at least like to see him given a chance in pre-season, hopefully we're able to play some decent opposition.

Yeah I understand that. I think a loan is still the best course of action, even if it’s back to the championship. Hopefully we can flog Matic to Mourinho.

Read earlier about the Spain national team. If Ramos isn’t ready for the Euros, and Enrique doesn’t fancy Nacho, it’ll be the first time ever that Spain won’t have a Real Madrid players for an international tournament.

Yeah it probably is but and we've had this conversation before a few times, I think it can be advantageous to certain players to play less games for their parent club at the level they're aspiring to play at than playing week in week out at a lower level although in this case if he joins Brighton he'll be playing in the Premier League which will be very good for him.

If Mourinho signs Matic I might actually have to say something good about him. Mata has been linked to them too. 🙏

That's a crazy stat.

Yeah I just meant that is what I think his preferred tactic is - with us he’s probably have to opt for a back 5 due to the imbalance in our squad.

If real life was football manager I’d do this with spurs:

Out: Davies, Sanchez, Doherty, Sissoko, Rose, CCV, Gazzaniga, Lamela

In: Kounde, Bissouma

We’d be sorted innit

I’m fairly content with whatever the club decide with Garner. I think we’ve been a bit more clued up with the youngsters since Ole came in, so I’m willing to trust them on this one.

Yeah it’s a good stat. Though not that surprising, Madrid have usually had the best Spanish players. I wonder if they’ll be looking to bring more Spanish players into the club in this next few years.

posted on 20/5/21

It's crazy in the sense that Madrid now have so few Spanish internationals.

posted on 20/5/21

Ah right, yeah. I guess the talent pool for the Spanish national team isn’t quite what it used to be. And the area they are strong, in central midfield, isn’t really an area Madrid have had to bother with.

Didn't Spain call up Asensio??

posted on 20/5/21

Not for the last internationals. Doesn’t sound like he’ll be going to the Euros either.

posted on 20/5/21

I thought he was a big talent when he came on the scene for Real, would've loved him at United especially since we are crap out wide.

Edin.

I do like Kounde but I have some doubts about how he'd handle playing in England, not so much about his physicality because I think he's shown he's capable of dealing with strong and aggressive opponents, more so his height.

posted on 20/5/21

He was, but he got a bad injury and has obviously struggled to nail down a spot for them since. Though he’s looked better this season than the last couple of years, from what I’ve seen.

Hard to call how Spain will look at the Euros. They’ve got injuries and there’s not many that have really nailed down a spot in the team.
