A lot of people just don’t like them so will never give them credit.

Unlucky, fellas. Hard way to go out after that performance. I actually feel sorry for Morata.

Congratulations, Forza. Hopefully we’ll be there Sunday.

Was stupid to let Morata go up for the penalty. But Olmo set the tone. His miss left Italy back in it. As we said before though, best for England. Spain would have bossed the Rice/Phillips midfield and Pedri would have bamboozled the slow turning Maguire with passes. Obviously if England make it.

Spain played their best match of the tournament
Can't expect them to win 2 pen shoots on the bounce
Morata the lad just never looks confident taking pens

I still expect Italy to win it, regardless of who they play, but yeah I’d rather play them if we get there.

Spain can take a lot of heart from this tournament. I don’t think anyone expected them to do this well with this squad.

Could be a missed opportunity, however, as Busquets is going to be hard to replace. He was brilliant when he came back into the side and may not be capable of this at the world cup in 2022.

busquets played v well today i agree, and kept it going for the whole match

in years to come i probably will see this as a missed opportunity for spain to win another tournament tbh

they outplayed the supposed best team in the tournament

Could be onto something good if one or two players can develop more of a goal scoring touch between now and the world cup.

I think Italy beating Spain might be the best outcome for us providing we win tomorrow night.

I didn't fancy playing Spain and them completely dominating possession.

Yeah same, would have been painful.

Read that Pedri only misplaced 2 of his 67 passes tonight. And that wasn’t until extra time.

I've been paying close attention to him since Spain's first game and I'm gobsmacked by what he's done at his first major tournament at that age.

His ability is one thing but he's intelligent way beyond his years. He took on so much responsibility in that team.

It's hard not to see him becoming anything other than a bonafide star.

Aye, feel bad for morata. Scored such a wonderful goal, but you knew he was going to miss.

Someone said he's a combination of Werner and giroud though

posted on 7/7/21

Yeah he looks phenomenal. It’s rare to see a player so young dominate an international tournament like this.

Tu, not a bad shout. Imagine being a Chelsea fan and having to watch all three of them.

Oh well, performed well beyond expectations, yet we are still painfully slow a lot of the time, and what’s with the 7,000 passes to the goalie ffs?

The good thing I think is that there’s very clear room for improvement on the coaching side of things. Watching Switzerland or Italy, their pressing was so much better organised than ours. If we could work on that area we could create much clearer chances than we do.

Forza!

I think the bigger issues are in the personnel, particularly in attack. The decision making and inability to finish was a clear issue in every single game.

posted on 7/7/21

Yeah, I know - but you can’t just invent players you don’t have. We might find a proper finisher soon or not, but there’s still other stuff we can work on to improve.

True, but player development comes into it. Apart from Morata, who doesn’t need explaining, a lot of these players don’t have that much experience of playing at the very highest level.

Obviously other things can be worked on, but all things considered I think Enrique’s done an excellent job to get Spain performing as they have.

I’d love England to perform close to this level, as we’d wipe the floor with most teams with the attackers we have.

Yeah. Shame.

Anyway, what I meant was that we can still improve even with the same players, which I think is encouraging.

As an aside, how god-awful was Thiago in ET? He overhit every longish range ball he tried by absolute miles.

Yep it’s definitely encouraging for Spain.

I’m amazed what has happened to him since leaving Bayern. He was amazing in his last season, now he doesn’t even look as good as Fred.

Djokovic should be winning the Golden Slam this year. He’s too good for everyone now.
