No way!
I’ve read people saying he played attacking football at Valencia as well. Not the way I remember it, and I remember wummy going mental on the regular about the shiiiiiit style of football, despite their results and performances really improving under him that season.
BBC confirming our interest in Varane, would be a grate signing for me tbh
Federer vs Gasquet will always be my favourite match up at Wimbledon.
I swear Daz. In the Graun’s comments section. And not just one or two either. I could barely believe it.
Valencia’s football under Nuno was god awful, but their efficiency in his first season was outrageous.
As soon as the goals dried up he was chased out of town.
A lot of people seem to think when a team is having a good season, it means they played good football.
huge advantage for a kid to have a dad who was a top professional footballer
the father will be able to give so much advice and insight
Very much like Wolves. Their record in big games was where they really stood out, as I recall, because they were brilliant on the counter. He got slagged off at Porto for the style of football as well.
He’s obviously a decent manager, but I’m not sure where this idea his teams are entertaining and attacking has come from. It’s not just this season Wolves have been awful to watch.
Only time it had any merit was when Wolves were in the championship. But they had the best squad to ever play in that league (that’s not even hyperbole).

That’s nothing. I’ve read some people today congratulating Spurs for hiring an attacking manager!

I was starting to think it wasn’t possible
They also had a shedload of Portuguese footballers, who are generally thought of as ‘flair’ players. Perhaps that’s partly why they presume the football is going to be spectacular and entertaining.
Peks, yeah. I’d say any background in elite sports is a huge help. Beyond the actual sport of choice, if your parents know the sacrifices required, the pitfalls and just generally speaking the terrain their kid is treading. There are loads of examples. Only the other day Petr Korda’s daughter won the women’s PGA or some other mega golf tournament.
Nuno is pretty likeable though and it’s nice to get someone who you know won’t cause absolute mayhem in the dressing room. I feel like his is a C- appointment but I’m a lot less concerned than I am about Nuno than I am Paratici.

Good point about the Portuguese. Though I think people conflate them with Spain, who have generally been the nation that provide more flair and entertainment when it comes to football. Not that Portugal haven’t produced players and managers of that style, but their managers, players and the national teams aren’t usually one you’d associate with entertainment. For me anyway. Maybe I’ve been scarred by Mourinho.
Portugal produced the king of flair.

True about the conflating of Iberian football, and there’s maybe an indirect identification with the romanticised image of Brazilian football, but I specifically meant players as opposed to managers or clubs/national side.
The fact Wolves had such an array of Latin players in general probably helped foster that image.

Worst game from Spain so far.
Yeah it is.
Manuel Akanji often looks a different player for Switzerland than he does for Dortmund which isn't a huge surprise given Dortmund's defence is usually a shambles collectively. I seem to remember him having a good World Cup too.
He's defended well and look assured in possession.
Spain looking more like Spain now. Creating chances, missing sitters.
De Gea coming on for penalties?
