USG was hoping they'd get over the line this time

Thing is that in Belgium, when they go to the second phase, they halve all the teams' points.

USG's lead was 7 points, 70-63, which got cut to just 3 points because Anderlecht's 31.5 got rounded up to 32, which is always the case in their system if you finish on an odd-number points tally.

The extra half-point then works against you in the event of a points tie. If I'm not mistaken, that would be the first tie-breaker, ahead of GD or H2H.

So, with Anderlecht currently losing, USG would retain a very slim advantage, as they're tied on points. But USG have now lost both of their games in the championship round, so it's not looking good.

Depor's lead has stretched to 3 points now, but Barça B are also on a roll. Both sides are unbeaten in 12. Depor have 10 wins in that streak to Barça's B 9 after the surprise draw against Arenteiro at the weekend. Plus, both sides seem to be feeling the increasing relevance of their fixtures, since neither have been winning comfortably in recent weeks.

Depor do definitely hold the advantage. They host Barça B in week 36, and won the away fixture 1-2, so as things stand they'd just need a draw there.

Barça B also have the tougher run in, as they'd face all the other current top-4 teams in the final 3 weeks, but they could really gain momentum if they were to win in Coruña.

Nastic are just one point further back, so shouldn't be counted out yet either.

Celta B and Ponferradina, 7 and 8 behind respectively, look too far back now - but you never know. Cultu do seem have to missed the train, but they are still in contention for the playoff places.

The ref's out of shot in the footage I've seen. I wonder if it wasn't simply that he signalled that it had to be taken from the correct side of the 'keeper's box.

No matter the mistake, if it was ball in play, then there's no way you can't give it.
