I somehow missed that Leverkusen had never won the title before!

What they've done so far this season is outrageous really, no part of me saw this coming.

I knew Leverkusen had never won it before, what I didn't know until today was that the city itself wasn't actually incorporated until 1930... meaning that the club is actually more than 20 years older than the city itself!

that's insane

I earmarked Alonso years ago as potential managerial material way back when he gave interviews as a Madrid player. He really stood out amongst as a remarkably articulate and convincing communicator, and I'm sure that when he went to Bayern it was solely for the opportunity to play under Pep.

So I always kept tabs on him, ever since his first season as coach of Real Sociedad B, who he got promoted to Segunda at a time there were no other B sides in the division.

Of course, none of that suggested this season he's having right now. It's outrageous.

Hadn't followed him as a manager myself but I've always liked him. Like you said he always spoke well coming across as smart, calm and someone with a great football brain.

Even during his Liverpool days, I couldn't help but like him!

Been a funny old season for me, more want Liverpool and Arsenal to lose than I care about Spurs.

Similarly in the NBA I want the Celtics to get knocked out so bad & I really want Nuggets to win (WTF WEMBY!??! Even as a SAS fan he shouldnt have gone that hard!!!)

A lot of fun as a full-time hater.

The most fun.

I can’t watch that video over here, says it’s unavailable.

If you can find it, it’s Wemby scoring 17 points in 3 minutes. It’s nuts

I'll take a look when I can. Most spectacular 1-man show I've seen in just a few seconds was Reggie Miller scoring like 8 in 20 seconds to win a playoff game, think maybe it was against the Knicks.

One of the worst ever was TMac vs spurs managing to overturn like an 11 point lead with a minute to spare

Why cricket is the greatest

posted on 16/4/24

Americans would lose it and shoot up a school looking at that and seeing only draws.

At least they’ll get super overs if it happens in the t20 world cup this summer.

I completely forgot it was in the US! I wonder if I’ll see it mentioned much

posted on 16/4/24

I’d have thought they’ll be trying to push it there what with the franchise league starting there soon, and the ample opportunities for ad breaks in cricket.

posted on 16/4/24

Yeah exactly, I see a fair bit of people playing around my way but its all Sri Lankans/Pakistanis/Indians etc. Haven't seen one white cricket fan.

posted on 16/4/24

Not sure what the numbers are, but I suspect there’s a decent size diaspora from SENA countries and the Windies in America as well. I think that’s mainly who the franchise owners are trying to attract.

posted on 16/4/24

Along with the Indian subcontinent, obviously.

posted on 16/4/24

I had a read on the venues and it seems like a few of the US ones were with Windies in mind + NY which would have fans from all over.

Will be good for me though, usually its impossible to get to watch the cricket unless its Ashes in the UK.
