Nice listening to Bellingham talk about Carlo and how he isn’t obsessed with turning players into robots with automatisms.

Real again, how do they do it?

Voodoo. It’s because of voodoo.

I bloody loved Lunin’s confidence to just stand straight up and catch Bernardo’s pen. No facks given.

If more managers tried to replicate Wenger than Pep then football would be a better place.

Agreed. Football was more...I dunno what the right word is here. "relatable"? When arsenal were good under him.

These tactical overload systems crushed him though. You really do need the best players in the world to pull it off these days.

We need more Pelligrini

It’s ruined how fans talk about football as well. People obsess over tactics, systems, philosophies, structure and patterns of play. You get people talking about how you have to have all of these on point to be successful. And then I just laugh and point them towards Real Madrid.

That 07/08 team he had was genuinely some of the best, most creative, off the cuff football I think I've ever watched

But that's the thing, they have the best players in the world. You need to be Hitler, Taliban, Isis, IDF all rolled into one with your tactics to have a chance

Unless they're having an off day.

Fabregas talks about it a lot. He's not a fan of these overcoached teams, but he's smart enough to understand them.

I think he's coaching somewhere in Italy, I hope he can spark a new trend if coaches who gives their players more freedom, but it seems unlikely.

Well yeah that’s the point, top players with strong mentalities are what makes teams successful. People seem to think otherwise because they’ve read a few articles by Jonathan Wilson.

Yeah I’ve seen Fabregas say that. I like listening to Henry as well because he articulates similar things very well. Saw him yesterday talking about the pen Cancelo gave away after Richards asked him what do you do as a coach to try and stop that. Basically says you can’t, the players need to keep their heads under pressure and not dive in making stupid mistakes. You can’t recreate the conditions and coach against it, every player knows you don’t dive in but it doesn’t stop them doing it.

They just interviewed him on the radio. He said they'd identified 3-4 City players who might go down the middle. He chose Silva because it was early in the shootout.

Carlo said the penalty takers were decided in Madrid.

This is a good stat. I dunno why so many got carried away with thinking Arsenal would beat Bayern easily. This is football ‘eritage.

That’s interesting. Guess that’s maybe why he didn’t sub on Joselu then. I thought Madrid were crying out for a target man in that game when they were struggling to do anything with the long balls.

Doesn’t matter, though. Pens is a much better way to beat them.

Yeah, Henry's a top pundit these days. Did a great job on MNF recently when he was on.

Wenger had it absolutely bang on with him. He has all the intelligence needed to coach, but he'd be too frustrated and impatient that his players couldn't do the things he could do on the pitch. And some of the players Henry has managed confirmed exactly that

But that's what makes him a good pundit.

History matters in the CL we're gonna have to fluke it like Chelsea did to win it.

Even Emery couldn't win us a facking Europa. We're just cursed.

Hard to know with that, I did see Henry talking about how he doesn’t expect players to do things they aren’t capable of. He wants them to be the best versions of themselves. Said that’s why he likes working with younger players to develop their key skills and try and fit that within a team. Ultimately there’s a lot that goes into management and managing a group of players is really difficult, which is something he’s admitted.
