Nice. Thing is, my kid doesn't have the slightest interest in sports. A mate of his from his time in Madrid works at the e-sports section at Marca. I'm not 100% sure, but I think he kind of runs it, must be about 24 or 25, but he s9mehow got his foot in the door out of uni and basically started the section up himself. Probably a one-man section, but not a bad look on your CV.

Daz, yeah, I keep telling him he needs to keep writing and building a portfolio. He's got the talent, but not the application unfortunately.

At least this year he's taking his uni work more seriously. Seems he's found the motivation for it at last.

According to @jordibaste in @rac1 , Joan Laporta has made the decision that Xavi Hernández will not be Barça's coach next season.

wtf Barca are actually a bigger clown show than United which is really saying something

I was just coming on to mention this.

Was it yesterday I said, in reference to Madrid and Carlo, that one of the trickiest things was the issue of managing upwards?

Well, same issue at Barça. It turns out that Xavi's head is reportedly on the block now, because before the Almería he spoke about how difficult the situation was no at Barça.

To sum up, he said that 20-25 years ago, the manager could go upstairs and specify what players he wanted, whereas now, due to the financial difficulties, he had to make do with whoever he was given, and that he'd have make do to try to compete with Madrid and the big European clubs next season.

This is being considered as a departure from the club message of Barça being great and going out to win on all fronts.

Storm in a teacup you'd think, but apparently not.

In broader terms, I think this is pretty characteristic of the presidentialist approach you find in many southern European clubs, where club owners/presidents are much more visible in the everyday running of clubs. This is also true of other cultures, and not just the Mediterranean way of running things, but perhaps not so common in northern Europe.

Not to say you don't get this in England to an extent, and perhaps it's likely to occur more often now given how many clubs are under foreign ownership, but I think it's much more evident in other latitudes.

That’s good to hear. Good luck to him, hope he finds a career that he’ll enjoy.

Laporta’s a beeellend.

He’s begged Xavi to stay as he’s been willing to work under the financial conditions at Barca, then he points out that reality and Laporta starts crying about it.

Barca will struggle to find many managers that would be willing to work under those conditions, especially as there’s relentless pressure from the press and fans to achieve unrealistic expectations.

One of the reasons Pep left was because he got burned out by that shiiiiiit, and that was when Barca were actually loaded and had arguably the best squad in football.

Yeah. It's beautiful.

Funny thing is, they just need Laporta to not act like a clown and they could probably win the league next season.

Madrid have a habit of shiiiiitting the bed after winning the league, surprisingly they’ve only retained the title once since 1990.

Weird, his behaviour showed a lack of class, which is compatible with their values. Do you think he refused to cheat then?

Looks like Tuchel has rejected Bayern’s approach to keep him next season. They’ve been getting rejected more often than peks.

Not sure Chelsea and Spurs will. But wouldn’t be surprised if both clubs are by Christmas.

But it’s a good point, I can’t remember a time when so many big clubs were looking for managers in the same summer.
