Just saw the highlights, seemed to me all Valencia's biggest chances were offside. Courtois dealt well with them though.

Got a bit of an injury situation at the moment, but it's encouraging that Solari isn't afraid of giving the academy lads chances in important games.

Llorente played well, apparently, and Vázquez nabbed another goal.

How did Reguilón get on, peks? Saw he made a bad mistake for one of their chances, but he also looked involved at the other end. Was talking to ping-pong about our left-wing options the other day and completely forgot him.

Gonna be interesting to see how many games he gets and what he's capable of, seeing as Marcelo's injured again. Third time this season .

Personally, I wouldn't play him again until he's properly fit and shed those extra pounds he seems to be carrying around. Can't keep rushing him back if he isn't up to it. For starters, I'd lock him up in the gym until after Christmas; hope we don't rush him back again for the Club World Cup.

I thought overall reguilon was quite good

Confidence is paramount, true, but it's also true that kids develop and adapt at different rates.

I really didn't think much of what I saw of him under Zidane, but quite often youngsters and newcomers can be somewhat overawed when they mke the move up and need an extended spell just training alongside the senior side before they feel like first-teamers and start to express themselves on the pitch as such.

england have had easy qualifying groups for at least a decade now

We usually make them look easy as well, in fairness. Say what you like about England but we are generally very good in qualifying.

in recent times maybe...definitely helped by how easy their groups generally are

germany and NL play eachother way too often

I remember them being in the same qualifying group for WC '90

back in the days before the breakup of the eastern euro countries when euro qualifying groups were actually quite competitive

Our qualifying record is good going back decades.

missed out WC '94...when in with holland a useful norway

missed out on euro '08

spain haven't missed a major tourney since euro '92

and haven't missed a WC since '74
