ENGLAND HAVE NO WORLD CLASS PLAYERS

I would agree that Kane is world class. There are only four or five other strikers on his level anywhere in the world right now.

Beyond Kane, we have three or four with great potential, including of course Alli and Rashford, but look at the midfield ffs. What a mess.

Greece won the euros but not sure there's been a side in the last 30 years that's won the World Cup without having any world class players?

Fully agree. Dont think that we Germans have world class players in our team when we won the WC.

What?

Denmark won it too in 1992 with no class players...don't think they even qualified originally, they got in due to Yugoslavia breaking up

Schmeichel, and Brian Laudrup?

I would say Kane is world class. I would say he is in the top 5 strikers in the world.
--------
Lewandowski, Aguero, Higuain, Cavani, Benzema, Suarez, Aubameyang, Griezemann, and I'd argue Mbappe as well though he's only had a season. Past that likes of Lukaku, Morata, Lacazette are all around his level (ones I mentioned are a level ahead. How's he top 5?

Load of old toss. England have a lot of decent players, he's just getting his excuses in early. They persistently under perform. The who England set up is screwed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What's decent got to do with world class?

It's funny. Average English players get overrated, but the genuinely good ones get underrated.

Harry Kane, right now, is most on at least the same level of most, if not all of those players.

Exactly.

Kane is very very good and is on the way to that level.

He's not there yet though.

So far he's made minimal impact on CL and International level. Certainly the latter he is getting there and could well end up challenging for our record scorer in 8 years time. Jury is out on the former.

posted on 3/9/17

He's outscored Aguero in the last two seasons, yet is a level below him?.... hmmmm

posted on 3/9/17

The general point of the list stands.

Individuals can be argued but there are a lot of players on a similar or better level to Kane.

He's certainly no shoo in for the top 5 strikers around.

Lulz

The hipsters just naming random strikers across Europe thinking no one will pull them up on it.

Well there are not a lot of players on a better level than him.

You could argue there are a lot of players on a similar level. But the original question was whether Kane is world class, and he is amongst the best strikers on the planet

I think he's about right, with Kane not far off. Alli and Rashford are possibilities for the future. After that I wouldn't consider anyone else would have a hope of being world class.

You are only basing that on PL goals.

There is no other evidence.

Given the PL is pretty weak on a European let along global level, id say that's a false barometer.

In a very competitive league Kane has got 20 goals for 3 seasons running. For context, Owen never got 20 league goals in a season.

He has 78 goals in 116 games for Spurs. That's fantastic. He has a 1 in 2 record for England.

Not sure what people expect from him? Perhaps his style isn't as pleasing as some but he's damn effective. Is it just because he doesn't dribble around 4 before finishing?

Sometimes I think Messi and Ronaldo have skewed a definition of what can be considered world class. They're a league apart.

I agree he's on the same level as Morata, Lacazette and Lukaku, I don't see how he's on the same level as the rest of that list who have been hitting 30 a season for clubs in CL for 5+ years. Icardi is the only one who's is perhaps comparable to Kane in where he's at in his career + quality. Mbappe another anomaly but he is just that.

Not sure how I'm in anyway under rating Kane (because he's English) by saying he's not one of the top 5 strikers in the world yet. He's had 3 v good league seasons (well was decent in Europa for AVB/Sherwood I think), not taking that away from him. Others I've listed have done so much more.

Of course I am basing it on PL goals. What else would I base it on?

That list contains the likes of Cavani, Aubameyang and Aguero yet Kane shouldn't be considered amongst them because he supposedly plays in a weak league?

What they did 5 years ago isn't relevant.

Here and now, are you telling me Aguero, Benzema and Cavani are a level above Kane?

Only thing holding Kane back is that he's not really proved anything in the CL yet, though I expect this to change sooner rather than later. He needs to be doing things on big European nights too.

posted on 3/9/17

And I like Morata but I have no idea what you think he has done to be considered alongside Kane

Sorry, but that is utter bollocks.

Scoring goals against PL sides is a lot more difficult than scoring goals against Spanish or French sides.

Cavani yes, Aguero yes, Benzema questionable (only as form has dropped off but then again how many strikers could do the job he does at Real). Why is what they did 5 years ago irrelevant, what's the cut off point? Especially when they're as good or even improved over 5 years. Hardly an outlandish opinion or doing a disservice to Kane to say Cavani and Aguero amongst others are better, they're world class strikers.

If we're going off the last 5 years then you'd have to add Ibrahimovic to the mix. I would have added him anyway.

Higuian has only had one season better than Kane in his career and has never scored 20 league goals 3 seasons running.

Look at Benzema's scoring rate. Kane's is better. Comfortably better.

PEA has only been at his level for 2 seasons as opposed to Kane's 3 but is considered great.

There are better strikers than Kane out there. But there's not a lot of them and the likes of Benzema and PEA and Higuian, there's stats don't look any better than Kane's. Often worse.
