Last night amplified to me the worry of only having Bonatini that can play the centre forward role and I think our results would suffer if he was injured.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what Wolfie said, imagining how differently things would have been had Steve Bull suffered a bad injury in the days of Divs 3 and 4.
Apparently that was to back up his earlier argument that we don't need any additional strikers.
Go figure, as they say over there.

Looking at our recent results maybe you guys got off lightly with a lucky draw?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I thought the same, you guys are a decent outfit and an outside chance of the play offs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
outside !
cast iron cert on their current form

Yes I said after the game that City looked a good team and deserved their draw with us, cinci disagreed with me though and said City deserved to lose and that the only chances they got we gifted them. Seems that now cinci agrees with me and disagrees with himself
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oops, some lies today. I also said after the Bristol game that they were decent and actually had some ability, that didn't change the fact we gifted them two goals and deserved to win.

We were lucky last night. Without a shadow of a doubt the goal should have been disallowed. We had a player clearly offside obscuring the keepers vision. I think it was N'Diaye but could have been Cavaleiro.
Speaking of Cavaleiro, he is still our least consistent player and just cannot be relied on to perform. When at his best he is a force but it seems that he is seldom at his best and I think Nuno is getting more and more fed up with him. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him sold in January.
Would be a huge mistake to sell him in January whilst he continues to produce chances and goals, think he is an excellent option from the bench with Costa and Jota starters.
Inconsistent? Yes. A liability? Absolutely not
^
agree with that., either scoring
even with his inconsistency cav is a goal threat either scoring or assisting - as opposed to eno despite last night
Attacking players can just be wildly inconsistent in general, it is just the way it is when they are trying to make things happen.
Would certainly play Cav ahead of Eno, however he is really inconsistent and when Costa is up to speed, Cav will be getting "bit parts".
Best front three in my opinion is Costa, Leo and Jota. Bringing on Cav from the bench doesn't really give us anything different (a plan B as some like to call it) so like GeminMallorca, I can see Cav being discarded in January to help fund and free a squad place for a real forward.
Agree with everything said about Cavaleiro's inconsistency. However I would certainly not sell him in January as, even when Costa is back Cav would still be my first attacking sub, ahead of Enobakhare.
Taking into account the number of starts he will have had by the start of the season, almost certainly less than 20, I think he will likely be involved in maybe 15 goals, scoring or assisting.
I also think Eno will have more starts than him but be involved in fewer goals.
Exactly it wulfrun and as shown last season we carry far more threat when he is on the pitch and score more frequently.
Wouldn't even judge him a little bit on last night incidentally when it sounds like we were poor as a unit.

As usual Butey, you've mis-read my comment.
This season we have several players throughout the side that are scoring goals (Jota being the leading one). So we're not having to rely on a main striker to get our goals. In Bully's first two seasons (which is what I was referring to) he was basically our only player scoring goals. 50+ in each season.
Right now we are second in the league and the goals are being spread around which is great. So even if we lose Bonatini for a few games, I'm sure there will be others who will get the goals required, especially when Costa returns.
So don't worry your little self and make sure you wear a double set of underwear.
I'm sure the club will search for an additional striker come January, if Nuno believes we need one. After all, it wasn't as if we didn't try during the summer. Hopefully the goal Enobakhare got will boost his confidence.
Sit back on your remote island and enjoy the ride.
DJ and Butey.
In Bully's first two seasons (which is what I was referring to) he was basically our only player scoring goals. 50+ in each season.
Wolfieinthesunshinestate; Wolves scored 82 league goals in 87/88 of which SGB scored 34. Other players therefore contributed 48.
In 88/89 Wolves scored 96 league goals of which Bully got 37. Others got 59.
These were the two seasons that Bull got 50+ goals which included cup goals. Other Wolves players contributed greatly in both league and cup. I would therefore refute your statement that "he was basically our only player scoring goals"
If we could get anywhere near our money back on Cavaleiro I would certainly sell him. Gets things wrong far more often than he gets them right and on the two games this week I am sure the number of times he has given the ball away would amount to at least 20
Enobakhare is similar but has more potential in him as he is still a youngster and maybe the goal last night will be a confidence booster.
When fit I think Zyro is better than both
If Nuno does decide to bring in a striker in January, to get one of the sort of quality needed to integrate into the current squad, and bearing in mind that it's the January window when prices get inflated, I would imagine that the club are going to have to shell out £15 - 20 million. Unless we bring in some money as well FFP may become a problem. If we can get our £7 million back for Cavaleiro (which I doubt) I think it's a no brainer quite frankly. Once Costa and Zyro are fit again and with Jota now in the squad, Cavaleiro is going to be shoved down the pecking order to the point where he may only appear on the bench occasionally.
Other players who may well be put in the January sales are Mason, Graham, Ebanks-Landell, Oniangué, Gladon, Evans and Iorfa.

Am I right in thinking that come January, if it looks as though we are heading for promotion, that getting a top notch striker at any price will be a "gamble" worth taking, as promotion will rid us of any FFP concerns?
Regarding Zyro, he had a full pre season and it is now coming to the end of September, his fitness is not an issue, he just isn't as good as some want to think based on three games three years ago.
If we are not promoted this season then sadly it means we won't sign the players we currently have on loan and it means we will sell Costa. To some extent that means starting again but if Fosun retain their interest then life will go on. But the gamble has already been made really and its promotion this season, with no second prize that makes anyone happy
The issue of whether or not we should/could have got a striker in during the summer is now getting boring. We didn't, end of and we'll have to manage until January. We're second in the league which is more than most of us would have imagined at this point and are still in the League Cup.
I'm not sure we can sell players in January if they are on a season long loan, but below are the 19 players from different levels who are currently away from Molineux.
If Nazon does well at Coventry, I'd be inclined to keep him at the end of his loan as a back up striker, whether or not we buy another one.
Not sure Fosun are bothered about the FFP rules at the moment. If we don't get promoted. I'm sure we'll see the back of several players and money can be recovered from the prices we paid for them.

Just poor conditioning at this point, very sloppy after months of training and getting game time.
Be nice to get an easy home draw in the next round, but if we get a tough game then quite fancy Spurs away. Haven't been to Wembley since it was modernised and they only charged £10 to go in last night. Reckon they would get a very big following from Wolverhampton if they kept those prices
