Just seen he is sacked. Suppose they have high expectations but still.

I've always thought Carlo was slightly overrated.

Ya he has 3 CL's which is no small achievement but his domestic record is modest enough.

Only 1 serie A in many years with that great Milan side, pretty much gimme titles with PSG and Bayern. Fair enough he beat SAF to a title but he had a much better team and only won it by a point and lost it the following year.

SAF wanted Carlo to replace him and while he'd have been better than Moyes and probably LVG I'm not sure it would've been a real success.

I think Ancelotti is one of the great managers. Still remember us being 2-0 down at Juventus and winning 2-3 although that 3-0 loss in that rain soaked night in Milan 10 years ago is a bit of a nightmare.

I agree slightly but I feel had he taken over from Ferguson he would have been given far greater respect from the players who possibly would have given more. Moyes was out of his depth while LVG was a bit too mental, Carlo's calming yet respected approach I feel was what we needed.

But then again the club needed a massive overhaul with players and Carlo has always worked with a DF picking the players so it may have been too much for him?

Yes I think he'd have done ok with us, better than the previous too but not sure he'd have won a title either. All his title wins other than arguably his one at Milan have come when he has had by far the best team in the league.

Don't think he's overated, you could say the same about Jose- in that aside Porto where he inherited a very good team he's required massive investment to win his awards.

He has won 8 league titles though I think compared to Carlo's 4. Carlo has also had major investment in his side.

Only Jose's Inter titles were relatively easy wins the rest were well earned regardless of investment.

Actually his Inter titles weren't easy either he had serious competition.

Carlo won more European troohies I think. That said Jose has pretty much bought his way to titles in every club he's been at. There's no doubt he's a great coach, but he's had to use very deep pockets to do it.

Actualy Jose Mourinho has won more european trophies if you include UEFA Cup/Europa League and Champions League as the 2 factors.

Carlo has one more CL. Not saying CL's are all down to luck but more luck is involved than league win.

Yes Jose spends millions but name a modern manager who's won multiple titles that hasn't spent millions.

There's a reason 3 of Chelsea's 5 PL title wins were under Jose. Their other managers spent millions too.

Jose's title at Real Madrid is one of his greatest achievements considering the Barca side he beat to that title. He had to break points and goals records to do so.

Jose is a superior manager to Carlo.

He's won the European cup or CL 5 times, Jose's what 2 Cl's and 2 UEFA/europa's? Isnt it? I make that less.

Ancellotti has 3 CL's as a manager Baz. Maybe he has 5 altogether as a player and manager I don't know but not 5 as manager.

This the problem you get at big clubs. A couple of games without a win and you are under the cosh, or in this case sacked. They blew a 2 goal lead at the weekend and were soundly beaten at PSG. Unlike Bayern, think that was a factor in their decision.

Its quite hard to compare Mourinho and Ancelotti, don't think there is much between them myself. If Ancelotti went to United, don't think he'd have done much better nor worse than Mourinho currently.

As a manager ‘just’ the three CLs.

Jose has two of each.

posted on 28/9/17

3 cl's is not a bad return to be fair, and Jose's 2 puts him up there in an exclusive group with Carlo.
