I agree it wouldn't be a huge loss if it was scrapped but it handy to keep fringe players fresh.

I think we should scrap everything that doesn’t directly involve United. I remember a couple of weeks ago Super Sunday involved Huddersfield v Brighton or something like that. Do we really need that? Scrap it. What else? Europa League, who gives a monkeys? Scrap it. I’d go as far as saying everything below top 6 in the Prem can be scrapped along with all non-televised games. What’s the point if we can’t watch it? Did it even happen?

There's usually 10 group games in each qualifying campaign so play 5 at the end of each season and fit an a few friendlies too.

When does the actual final tournament get played then?

Also, its only really UEFA that has 10 games. When are Conmebol meant to play their 18 game qualification? or Asia's 18 or so qualifying games too? Impossible to fit in at the end of the season when players need to rest.

International football is the only way Ox can get some game time.

After the qualifiers. Just the same way that tournaments are played after club seasons. There wouldn't be anymore games or any less rest periods.

The South Americans qualifiers are played over a longer period than European ones. They don't get any more international breaks than Europe does.

Remove International football full stop for me.

I just can't stand these international breaks. The week goes so bloody slow without PL football. The time has come to have this international window at the end of the season. Season would finish sooner and get rid of the likes of San Marino, Malta etc pointless games and have your 6-7 meaningful matches and be done with it.

You start the international month with a friendly before playing the competitive games.

Hate this international breaks to the core. Just kills the buzz...

So play qualifiers in May and then have the international tournament a couple of weeks later?

So south american, african or asian teams have the squeeze in 8 or 9 matches after the season ends, then play in the tournament over the summer and then return to their club teams? Sounds completely unmanageable

Ya the likes of San Marino, Gibraltar should have their own little tournament to advance further. At least it gives them a chande to win a game and there isn't numerous whipping boys in the groups.

They should split into more groups. South America can easily have 2 groups of 5 which means 8 fixtures instead of 18 for example.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why should they though? A lot of people take great pride in seeing their national team compete. why should they have to play less matches when they seem perfectly happy playing 18 against their continental rivals? Why water it down with smaller less competitive groups?

Yes.

The South American and Asian qualifiers are over a longer period than ours. They don't have longer international breaks yet get them all played because it's over 3 rather than 2 years. That wouldn't have to change just the time of year they are played.

When does this Nations League thing start?

I think that'll help get a bit more interest in international football, especially if we're not playing the likes of Andorra or San Marino.

---------------------------

South America play their qualifiers over 2 years. So they would have to play 18 games across two end of season periods. So 9 games in may/june 2017 then another 9 in May June 2018 before the actual world cup starts in June 2018. That's totally unmangeable.

Aye, Wales, Iceland and Northern ireland would have been included in such an exclusionary tournament a few years ago. Don;t see how that would have benefited them and enabled them to get into the worlds top 20odd positions.

No if you look at it you'll see that the current South American started in 2015, a year before ours.

As said, your idea may be good for England and half of Europe, but it may not sit well with the rest of the World.

I don't mind a bit of international football, but 3 breaks in the first 3 months of the season is a bit much.

Us Patriots would rather scrap the clubs and concentrate on the internationals.

Get rid of those friendlies, utterly pointless other than before a tournament maybe.

Thats the bit I can agree with. The 3 breaks so quickly. But at the same time, theres so many problems trying to hold games (in europe anyway) in December or January, so fitting them in proves tricky.
